Todd Dedecker from the Bishop Hill Heritage Association joined WKEi on Tuned In on Tuesday to talk about Lucia Nights, happening December 11th and 12th in Bishop Hill. This Lucia Nights will be very different from past events due to COVID-19 but it's still happening. Restaurants in Bishop Hill will be ready with food you to buy and take home, and the lights in the windows of those historic buildings in Bishop Hill will still be there for you to drive around and marvel at or to walk by. There will be crafts for sale as well, take and make crafts from the VASA Archives among others.

RaeAnn Tucker from the Henry and Stark County Health Department joined WKEi on Tuesday morning for the first two weekly COVID-19 podcasts on WKEi. Today, we discussed the desperate need to bring down the infection rate in Henry and Stark County. The rolling infection rate in Henry and Stark County have been over 16% on a 7 day average since before Thanksgiving. If this number doesn't come down it will mean that restrictions per Governor J.B Pritzker will remain for these counties even as the statewide infection rate has dropped to just over 10%.

What kinds of tests are there for COVID-19? Which is the most effective? What should I do if I feel like I have COVID-19 and I want to get tested? What if I have been exposed but don't feel sick? These are some of the questions we confronted with Aaron Stevens Laboratory Director for OSF Healthcare, our guest on the Monday edition of Tuned In. Aaron also addressed what could be accomplished with more testing for COVID-19 and the testing supply chain and the challenges in that chain since the pandemic began.

There is now an indoor visitors booth at the Courtyard Communities in Kewanee. Catherine Hughes, Director of Courtyard Village came up with the idea just as the weather was turning cold and outdoor visiting was becoming less of an option. The project has been a huge success with residents at Courtyard Communities enjoying reunions with family knowing that they can visit and be safe. Maisey Link, Karissa Nash and Catherine Hughes from Courtyard joined WKEI on People to People on Monday to talk about this remarkable effort, how residents are reacting and the many other things that Courtyard has going on which you can see for yourself via the Courtyard Estates Facebook page.

If you've been thinking about getting outside and running or getting on your treadmill and competing in a virtual 5K, it's not as simple as just leaping off the couch and starting to run. Kim Becker, Physical Therapy Assistant at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center, wants to see you up and running but she wants to make sure you know how to get up and running safely before anything else. Kim joined WKEI on the Noon Hour Show to talk about running, running competitively and running safely especially for those just getting started on running.

The Kewanee Area United Way is launching another Supply Drive for those in need. With the aid of the Kewanee Ministerial Association, the Kewanee Area United Way is gathering supplies that will be handed out in multiple ways. Cleaning supplies have been sent out to local seniors in need via partnership with the Henry County Senior Center. Still more supplies are being gathered with the aid of the Kewanee Salvation Army and a drive through pick up of needed supplies is set to take place early next year. We talked with Linda Blair from the Kewanee Area United Way about the ongoing plans for the supply drive and the need for donations.
