Topics included the upcoming COVID-19 Drive Thru testing clinics in Kewanee and Toulon. The first drive thru testing clinic will take place this Saturday from 9 Am until 1 Pm at the old hospital site on Elliott Street in Kewanee. It's a nasal swab test and while there is no upfront cost, if you do have insurance you are asked to show your insurance card so insurance can be billed in order to recoup some cost from the event. September 29, 2020Dr Cliff Martin OSF COVID19 Medical HeadlinesDr Cliff Martin, Vice President Chief Medical Officer serving OSF Saint Luke Medical Center, OSF Holy Family Medical Center, and OSF St. Mary Medical Center, joined WKEI for our weekly conversation about the latest COVID-19 medical headlines. Once again on the agenda was a discussion of a potential spike in COVID-19 cases in the winter. As Dr Martin explains, it has little to do with the weather and more to do with how weather drives more people indoors and into enclosed spaces where COVID-19 is more easily transmitted. More people in an enclosed space with not much ventilation leads to more infections, hence a winter spike in COVID. We also talked about recovering from COVID and how we don't really yet know what a full recovery from COVID-19 looks like. For some it passes like the flu and for others, the symptoms can linger for months even as the virus itself has run its course. Sue Sagmoen and Mary Bergren joined Tuned In on Friday to promote Sunday's Golf Ball Drop fundraiser at Bake Park. You can purchase golf balls at Heartfelt Gifts for the chance to win a cash prize if your golf ball is the one that lands closest to the target. Golf balls will be dropped from the top of the Kewanee Fire Department Ladder truck onto a giant target at 1 Pm on Sunday afternoon.
