RaeAnn Tucker from the Henry and Stark County Health Department and Melissa Shipp from OSF Saint Luke Medical Center joined WKEI on People to People on Tuesday to talk about the upcoming drive thru COVID-19 testing that is coming to Henry and Stark County. The drive thru testing for COVID-19 will take place October 3rd from 9 Am to 3 Pm at the former OSF Hospital location on Elliott Street in Kewanee. The second Henry County drive thru testing will take place at the same location on October 6th from 9 Am to 3 Pm. The final COVID-19 drive thru testing opportunity will be in Stark County on October 10th from 9 Am to 3 Pm at Stark County High School in the parking lot All you need is a photo I.D or insurance card to get tested and no appointments are necessary.

Legendary stand-up comedian Tom Dreesen visited with Paul Bomleny on Wake Up Princeton on WZOE recently. Dreesen has spent more than 50 years in show business, making more than 500 appearances on national television as a stand-up comedian, including at least 60 on The Tonight Show. For 13 years, the Harvey, Illinois native toured the nation as the opening act for Frank Sinatra. Dreesen has just released his memoir “Still Standing...My Journey from Streets and Saloons to the Stage, and Sinatra.” It’s available on his website tomdreesen.com.

The Emmys took place on Sunday night and they were weird. It's the first ever virtual Emmys and while it was strange not having the usual trappings of your typical awards show, the winning series' did have a lot to say about the state of modern television. HBO remains the gold standard of awards TV thanks to Watchmen and Succession which both dominated the night. And in comedy, Schitt's Creek took home nearly every award imaginable and proved to be the comedy of the moment. We talked about the strange nature of this year's awards and the unique winners with Jen Lamers from Extra today on WKEI.

New studies are indicating a rise in domestic violence amid shelter at home, quarantines and in general over more people staying home more often due to COVID-19. The latest big news coming from the CDC which over the weekend acknowledged that COVID-19 transmits most frequently through the air. That sounds scarier than it actually is. Knowing that this is how COVID-19 transmitted we also know that masks can keep you from spreading the virus in the air. Also, distancing can keep you safe as the virus may linger in the air but it doesn't travel far and will dissipate. Enclosed areas where social distance is not maintained are going to be the most likely places were COVID may spread. Meanwhile, there is optimism regarding influenza and perhaps the idea that more people are getting flu shots and because of COVID-19 mitigation efforts, the flu may not go around as much as it has in the past. Basketball great Joe Ruklick has passed from natural causes at the age of 82.

Ruklick, was born in Chicago but was moved to Covenant Children’s Home at age 11. He was cut from Princeton’s freshman basketball team but would persevere and go on to lead the Tigers to state tournament appearances in 1954 and 1955.

Ruklick was an All-American at Northwestern University. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Warriors and will be remembered for passing the ball for the assist on Wilt Chamberlain's final score in his record 100-point game in 1962. Chamberlain and Ruklick, who played against each other in college, remained friends until Chamberlain’s passing in 1999.

After his NBA career, Ruklick became an investment banker, a father of three and earned a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern at the age 50.

Even people who've always appeared fearless can still get scared. That's a lesson that daredevil Nik Wallenda learned after an accident left his famous daredevil, wire-walking, family injured. Nik's sister was left in a coma following a family stunt go wrong and rather than deal with the emotional toll of what happened, Nik kept up his wire-walking schedule and pretended that nothing was wrong. That proved to be the wrong approach as, for the first time in his career, Nik started to feel what we regular folk recognize as anxiety. How Nik learned to cope with feelings he wasn't used to and trauma he tried to pretend wasn't there is the subject of his inspiring new memoir Facing Fear.
