Kentrel is the organizer of a peaceful protest set for this Saturday, June 6th in Kewanee. The peaceful march will begin at Kewanee City Hall and with the cooperation of Kewanee Police, some of whom will be marching with the protesters. The plan is to gather at 1 Pm at Kewanee City Hall and march to Northeast Park where protesters are invited to lie down in the grass for 9 minutes, commemorating the last minutes in the life of George Floyd. She’s been working at the U of I Extension for 20 years. Her office serves Bureau, La Salle, Marshall and Putnam counties. Despite the coronavirus situation, all of their resources are still available, though webinars have become more popular during the self isolation period. A series of free webinars on food preservation kicks off on June 3 and will take place every Wednesday at 1 pm through July 22. You can register for the webinars on their website. The upcoming webinars will offer information on canning, freezing, dehydrating, fermenting, and other ways to preserve food. Participants will also learn how to make homemade jellies and jams. She says their webinars are recorded so if you miss one you can catch up later.
