As the number of confirmed cases continues to rise, Stephanie Johnson from the McDonough County Health Department called WLMD's Mid Morning in Macomb to discuss the county's efforts to contain the virus.

The Henry and Stark County Health Department on Thursday released detailed information on the 47 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Henry County. The numbers reflect the percentages of where clusters of cases are in Henry County. Colona for instance has more than 25% of the 47 cases. Kewanee has more than 21% of the 47 cases in Henry County. The joslin plant outbreak accounts for a cluster as well. 7 employees and three close contacts of Tyson Plant employees in Joslin have tested positive. Indeed, the YMCA of Kewanee has been as busy as ever at finding innovative ways to remain in contact and connected to the community. Jill Milroy from the YMCA of Kewanee joined WKEI on People to People to talk about their emergency child care services, being a meal site for Kewanee School kids, and the work that Wellness Director Laura Luciani and her team have been doing using social media, specifically the YMCA of Kewanee Facebook page.

Brad Whitcher from Save A Lot in Kewanee joined WKEI to talk about the meat supply. Concerns have been on the rise since several meat packing plants around the country and in our area have been closed briefly over COVID-19 concerns. Brad joined WKEI to dispel notions that there is a shortage of meat. That's not the case. That said, the price of some meat is going up due to issues in the supply chain and market forces. Brad explained how the meat supply at Save A Lot works, they have their own full time meat cutters which aids in keeping the supply up and running at Save A Lot.
