May 25, 2024Duncan's Birthday, Facebook Beef, Pursuit, MY FoodMy (Hayley proclaimed) mini-me has turned 8. And he managed to turn it into essentially 3 days of birthday fun. But hey, that's the point of being a kid, right?! Make every birthday as jam-packed as possible. I finally had that moment where it really hit me how entitled this younger generation is and it was a facebook bourbon group that did it. Even better, I made the mistake of almost getting into a facebook comment arguement with an ultra-right-winger over Harrison Butker's speech. Why? Cause I'm stupid. I review the latest release from Pursuit United, which I can finally get near me, then out myself on how I'm a touch selfish with random food items. Maybe I'm not actually perfect after all. Enjoy!...more44minPlay
May 17, 2024MothersDay Rebel Double MidYear ReviewHappy Mother's Day! And no, I'm not talking to the women who own dogs. Or cats. Or really any other animal. I recap our mother's day adventures and then drop into a whole discussion on women seemingly being more vocal on their health care rights. Or maybe it's just an algorithm. Either way I like what I see. Then a not quick review of a Rebel private barrel, some unnecessary decoder infomration, and a comparison to a newer barrel. Then we wrap it up with my midyear review thoughts. Spoiler alert, I can do better.Enjoy!...more44minPlay
May 09, 2024Outdoor Cooking Fest, Canoe Analogy, LBP ReviewBusy weekend here. Far away soccer games, 2nd grade baseball, then I flipped a switch and went crazy with preparing and cooking meats outside. Why? Probably just because I could. What more excuse do I need to play with a meat grinder?!And of course a 'quick' conversation about some yet another interpersonal communication lesson. With a simply beautiful analogy that I clearly don't do justice. Review of a brand new bottle and we're out. Enjoy!...more46minPlay
May 03, 2024Weekend In Nashville, Poppy Flavored LollipopWhew, that was some weekend in Nashville. Going HARD for 3 straight days is not something I'm in shape for any more. But I got to tour 2 distilleries (1 distillery and 1 blender technically), saw some great live music, and had a hot chicken sandwich. Met some new friends, too. 1 that's a professional chef, 1 that can do some mind-blowing card tricks, and a few that were just good dudes. Then I rant about work for a bit, which is out of the normal. Enjoy!...more45minPlay
April 25, 2024Whisky Comparison, Caitlin Clark, Me v DandelionsWith a rather uneventful weekend behind us, I throw in a longer whisky segment for some fun and then get into some thornier topics. What topic? Caitlin Clark and WNBA salaries. Yeah, it probably goes exactly the way you'd think it goes. Except I've got real facts and numbers to throw around. And yes, I know there's a glaring discontinuity in the beginning. Right as I say I'm going to stop doing that. I tried to get too big for my own britches. Enjoy!...more38minPlay
April 18, 2024Draining Week, Spreading Mulch, Phillies GameI had an mysteriously draining week, but I think I figured out why it was draining. Nothing earth-shattering or something I shouldn't have been able to figure out easier, but I'm new to this whole 'figure out why I react negatively to things so I can get better' game. So lay off!I spread a lot of mulch and play a lot of hockey in 2 days (and naturally have no repercusions...)And last we recap our trip to a Friday night Phillies game. Only the 2nd big-league game the kids have been to. Enjoy!...more48minPlay
April 12, 2024Purdue BBall, I'm Midwestern, Old Friend at GymI sadly have to recap Purdue's loss in the college national championship game. Both my sister and I had to watch our teams lose in their respective title games. But it was still an incredible season and it was a blast to watch each tourney game. Then I finally remember to tell a story capturing just how midwestern I still am. And what I hope is the first time fully telling our Friday morning ritual here. After a quick whiskey review, I bumped into an old friend that I haven't seen in quite a few years. And in a relatively unlikely place. Enjoy!...more44minPlay
April 04, 2024Jamaica! Purdue, and fancy RumWe have successfully returned from Spring Break in Jamaica. Hard not to, when you're at an all-inclusive resort with 2 pools and great weather. Quick recap of the Purdue sweet-16 and elite-8 games with my general feelings about making it this far. And for a curveball, we do a rum review instead of whiskey. Because #Jamaica. Enjoy!...more37minPlay
March 28, 2024Content Creation, JDSBBP Rye, TourneyI spend some time discussing my admiration for content creators on all platforms as well as evalutating my progress towards 2024 goals.A "quick" whiskey review of one of the few bottles I was actively seeking out. Spoiler alert, it was really good. Then some brief commentary on March Madness as it stands as of recording. Enjoy!...more42minPlay
March 21, 2024Outback Is Gone! StP's Day. Aaron Rodgers?!The day finally arrived that I had to give up my beloved Subaru Outback. It was the right decision, but one that stings. More than a little. And then we recap St. Patrick's Day. Honestly, there was a lot less shananigans than I expected, and the food came out...about as well as I expected overall. Finally you get the excerpts of a massive political rant I recorded the other day that will never see the light of day. Oh yeah, and a Weller 12 review. #BuffaloTrace always gets clicks. Enjoy!...more46minPlay
