August 02, 2024CleaningGrills WoodfordReserve DucanIssues ShinnyWe kick it off with an oddly long recap of the weekend. Pretty much how I decided to day drink outside all day on Sunday and paid for it. At least all my outdoor cooking aparati are clean. Then we review one of the few bottles I'll actively chase every year. Is it worth it? It is to me, and that's all that matters. Remember when I mentioned that Duncan had a little trouble at camp? Me neither, but I wrote it down and so we discuss it. Enjoy!...more48minPlay
July 26, 2024Jack Anniversary, ODG114, MIL WorkI finally tell the tale of my worst night to date. Yeah, even worse than when my dog died while on a walk with our family during COVID. It's the weekend of our remembrance of that night, so it feels appropriate to record it. Fittingly, I review a bourbon that is tied to the person said night revolves around. I brand that I really only drink on this one night a year. Then I recap the weekend doing some handyman jobs up at Hayley's mom's house. Painting, shower bars (not the fun kind), etc. Enjoy!...more40minPlay
July 19, 2024San Fran Baseball, Husband Portal, Remus, Trump, RibsBunch of random topics today, starting with the 19th (non pandemic) annual guys baseball weekend. San Fransisco, baby. No rice-a-roni, or Ghirardelli, but we ate lots of Japanese food and crossed the Golden Gate.My take on what I'm sure many comedians (and dads) have joked about; a transfer portal or free-agency type deal for dad/husbands. You only get a piece of what I dreamed up here, as it does get a bit repetitive. But if you want to hear more, just hit me up. "Long" banked review of Remus Repeal, cause I didn't do any new tastings over the weekend. Then I touch on the Trump shooting and a desire to enter ribs in a BBQ competition. Mostly to see how poorly I'd do, but to get pro feedback on how to further up my game. Enjoy!!...more43minPlay
July 11, 20244th Of July, Teasing Culture, Bernheim BP, Sports TalkWe had a very successful 4th of July. Many meats were cooked, including that full packer brisket, and everything was delicious. And no one was injured in any fireworks related incident!! Then I discuss my thoughts on why we need to get back to a culture where it's acceptable to tease and be teased. In comedies and in life. It's a learned skill that we're 'safe spacing' out of society. Review of yet another barrel proof offering out of Heaven Hill, this one a wheat whiskey under the Bernheim brand. Then some sports talk. Yeah! Guy stuff! First, how do you define what is and isn't a sport? Then, let's take a step back and review the current QB salary market. Does it still seem reasonable? Does it? Enjoy!...more41minPlay
July 06, 2024A/C Works, MIL Insights, I'm on or off, Blue Clarage ReviewThe a/c is officially working like normal again! Oh happy day. And as of now it was free, since I haven't received an invoice for the job yet. And I don't know why it never clicked before, but I've been mistaking some of my MIL's behaviors as a symptom and not a cause. And it really does filter out into a great many things. I really making progress here. More psychology on me, especially as it pertains to gatherings that may or may not get a bit rowdy. Spoiler alert, I sometimes struggle with these. New Riff's Blue Clarage is up, and with that fun wrinkle that I teased before. I think it's awesome. Enjoy!...more38minPlay
June 28, 2024Alanis NewTire A/C 1792FP WeekendMiscLots of little topics this week. But we start with animatronic Alanis Morriset. That's...about...as...nicely as I can put it. And game 7 of the Stanley Cup featuring McJesus. And surprise surprise there were some misfortunes! Who could have guessed?! But we perservere. Fight the good fight. Solder on. A shorter than normal whiskey review of 1792 Full Proof. I guess I just prattled less than normal. And then the normal rambling wrap-up with random thoughts. Enjoy!...more41minPlay
June 20, 2024Father's Dad, Architect, Facebook Regrets, MoodHappy (belated) Father's Day to all the dads out there! Over here, I had to shift it to consume part of Saturday, because Sunday afternoon/evening was taken up by something else. But many meats were cooked, drinks were drunk, merriment was merried. Not only do I review Penelope Architect (build 9), but I came up with a great idea that I need to get Skup to execute for me. Obviously 'great' will be subjective. And yes, Facebook keeps making me regret ever making a comment on that dude's Harrison Butker post. Sometimes the algorithm helps you out, sometimes it likes to kick you in the nuts. Repeatedly. But I'm in a better mood (as of recording, spoiler alert) and like the direction things are going. As of recording. Not saying anything has changed since then. But also not not saying. Enjoy!...more40minPlay
June 14, 2024Perry Ritter Interview! He even agreed without blackmail.I've done it! I got a real person to come on for an interview. And not just a family member, or friend, or someone that owed me a favor. I legit podcaster with a life of his own took time out of his weekend to have a zoom call with me. This is definitely not the smoothest interview podcast you'll ever hear, but no one's first time was their best time. You just gotta get that cherry popped...I get in a quick whiskey review and pretty much Irish goodbye this thing. You'll see. Enjoy!...more1h 1minPlay
June 07, 2024RejuvenatingWeekend, Angels Envy, Basement GraveI had a rejuvenating weekend of getting chores done, firepit time, grilling meats, and learned a little more about the awful machinery that makes this thing tick. Turns out I'm a contradicting, somehow complicated mess. And I need to dabble in 1,059 mini hobbies to be content. The review is what I believe is the final bottle from that soccer trip to Total Wine. But don't quote me on that; I don't keep great notes still. Embarrasing story? I've got one, that really should have ended with me kidnapped and buried in my neighbor's basement. But besides my best efforts it obviously didn't. Enjoy!...more45minPlay
June 01, 2024LI Wedding, MIL Packing, Field & Sound, Gettin' StressedWe survived our holiday weekend on Long Island. But unfortunately it was (ironically) too easy. We absolutely should have been put to work. The wedding was great and had a memory I won't soon forget. And just when I thought we were too old for these first-time weddings with bridesmaids and groomsmen and the whole shabang. And of course, things at the mother-in-law's didn't go the way we hoped. And I really do wish I was allowed to do more. But hey, not my circus not my monkey. I review a craft whiskey from Long Island; super appropriate. Then actually talk about mental health stuff. Weird, right?! Enjoy!...more45minPlay
