Hey Clemson Family, this year’s Elite Retreat junior day for Clemson recruiting brought football talent to Death Valley from far and wide, and included a commitment from four-star DL Champ Thompson, we’ll explain an unusual tie to the Tigers for the young man. Thompson’s commitment was followed two days later by another – that one from four-star safety Noah Dixon, bringing Clemson’s count of commits for the 2024 class to five. Plus the festivities drew plenty of attention from top players including CB Omillio Agard, QB Walker White and RB David Eziomume, LBs Sammy Brown and Drew Woodaz, DL Hevin Brown-Shuler and many more. Of more immediate impact, now we have the 2023 Clemson football schedule in front of us and it sets up pretty well but also includes some solid challenges for the Tigers, particularly after the mid-October open date. We will get into detail on credentials and why Riley is such a hot commodity beyond one season’s work at TCU, but I want to start off with what I hope will be the biggest impact of his arrival on campus and it’s this — that it’s not just his Xs and Os that will make the big difference, but also the example that someone can be as liked and as tenured as Streeter but still need to clear a high bar of performance to earn the right to contribute, whether a player or a coach or a staffer or heck even if you’re running the postage meter in the basement, you need to get things done right … physically and mentally. Also, what it means for Cade Klubnik, Jake Briningstool, Will Shipley, Phil Mafah and the rest of the Tigers offense. Hey Clemson Family, Garrett Riley is reportedly about to take over the  Clemson offensive coordinator job previously held by former Tigers QB  and assistant Brandon Streeter, who was fired Thursday after one year as  Clemson’s offensive coordinator. In Episode 55 of the Reign Supreme  Alway Podcast we take a quick look at how Riley could fit in at Clemson,  whether or not more change is in store and what Streeter accomplished  in 2022. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS in the comments today! Streeter led the  Tigers to rank 48th in total offense and 30th in scoring offense – not  the kind of numbers the team is used to putting up. He certainly  improved DJ Uiagalelei’s performance in the first half of the season as  quarterbacks coach but his play regressed, and Cade Klubnik brought  mixed results to close the season out. Dabo Swinneya ‘s statement  Thursday evening included this quote: “Though we took a step forward  offensively in 2022, after evaluating our offense in-depth, I felt it  was in the best interest of our program to seek new leadership at that  position. These decisions are never easy, but it is my job to evaluate  and assess every part of our program every year, and this was just the  right time to make a change.
