Reignite

Feynriel returns with a new magical problem. This time, he is stuck in a dream and can't get out. The danger is intense–his power is catnip to demons and he would be unstoppable if turned into an abomination. Thanks to some ancient dalish magics, we can step into the fade despite not being mages and confront Feynriel's demons–literally. But, will our companions be able to resist temptation? Will Feynriel succumb to a demon's bargain? How will Varric tell this story if he refuses to enter the fade? Special thanks to Redd Spinks for our amazing logo as well as to Miracle of Sound for the song Age Of The Dragon, which we use as our theme music.

Oh hey, we were supposed to do something for the Viscount. Good thing that guy is still at the hanged man getting drunk and bragging about being an absolute shithead. Hawke gets some information out of the guy, a templar with the grand cleric's seal abducted the qunari and paid our drunkard to turn his head. We don't get the opportunity to speak with Grand Cleric Elthina, though, because Mother Petrice intercepts us to say that the grand cleric would never sanction such a thing but surely it's fine because she trusts her subordinates to do the right thing. If we press Petrice, then she will sacrifice her trusted bodyguard Ser Varnell and label him a fanatic. She gives us his location and arrives on our heels to disavow Varnell's actions and set Hawke up as the coming retribution. One dead templar later, the Viscount has a huge headache to deal with. Our dear friend Hubert is back with news on who has been raiding our shipments. He brings us a man from Lothering named Sabin. After some questioning and the appearance of a consultant from the coterie, Sabin reveals that there will be an ambush. We arrive too late to save our guards, but we can at least take out their attackers. Once the dust has settled, Lilley the coterie consultant points out that she knows one of the dead men and that he works for a man in the coterie named Brekker. She tells us to meet her in dark town to get an update, but when we arrive she is dead and the coterie are looking for someone to blame. After that we confront Brekker and everything is fine with the mines for now. Except for the spiders, the revenant, and the broken pickaxes of course. Aveline, Captain of the Guard, has an important favor to ask of us– deliver a gift to one guardsman Donnic. Weird, but okay. Donnic is just as baffled as we are. On top of that, Aveline has him working an easy patrol, which isn't what someone who takes his job seriously would want. Before Aveline can give Donnic's mother some goats and call it a day, we convince her there are easier and less confusing ways. Will Aveline win the guy? Another day, another friend needs our help. Merril reveals to us why she left her clan, a dark mirror that her people associate with evil due to the perceived role it played in the death of one of their people. Merril, convinced that the mirror holds the key to restoring a piece of elven history, is determined to repair it using blood magic. The mirror is incomplete and she needs a relic from her people to finish it–a relic that she must ask the keeper for. Afraid of her mother figure, Merril asks us to accompany her on this quest. Along the way, Merril receives the cold shoulder from everyone in her clan due to her work with demons and blood magic. This fear leads to the death of an innocent hunter and we must decide whether or not to support Merril's mission. Anders needs help finding evidence of a plot to make all mages in Kirkwall tranquil. The squad creeps through the underground passage that leads into the Gallows, fighting spiders and Lyrium smugglers along the way. At the end of the passage, our target Sir Alrik is terrorizing a mage girl who only wanted to see her mom. Justice (or perhaps he is now Vengeance) takes control of Anders, feeding off their shared anger. Sir Alrik and his soldiers are killed but that leaves a very frightened young woman who has never seen anything like Vengeance before. She, justifiably, calls him a demon and cowers. Vengeance doesn't like this. Once all is said and done, Anders has fled the passage and we must go back to his clinic to check on him and perhaps show him how far the tranquil solution has gotten.
