In the 21st century you can google anything.

And I wished I tried to use google a little bit more with my first piece of copy.

I had just learned of copywriting before and I thought I could write a product description for a small hair shop in north philly.

And I wrote a product description like one would write a sales page.

Before this I read one copywriting book.

And with this previous knowledge I ended up embarrassing myself when I finished this project.

The business owner didn’t pay me all of my money.

And honestly, I wouldn’t either because the copy that I wrote for him was terrible.

I vowed to work harder.

This would be the last time that I would embarrass myself when writing copy (although this wasn’t the case).

I binged watched Youtube Videos and read more books and eventually I came across my mentor Dan Lok.

He taught me proven models to follow when writing copy.

I didn’t need to be a creative genius and reinvent the wheel when it came to writing copy.

You should follow proven models.

A blank paper can look overwhelming because you don’t even know where to start at.

Everything in life is recycled material being used for different concepts.

There is no need to search for new answers.

With following proven templates, there is less chance for error because you are following something that already works.

This works with anything too.

Kobe modeled different parts of other players' games in order to become the player he was.

And like stated in the first sentence of this copy, there is no excuse in this 21st century to why you couldn’t find information.

There are proven models all over the internet.

So find one and follow it in anything you do.

Do you want to be a man that sits around all day?

I don’t think so.

Whatever I did, I trained to be the best ever.

My mentor Dan Lok once said: “How you do one thing is how you do anything.”

So I try to prove myself in everything I do include being the best man for my woman.

Age wasn’t an excuse for anything I did when it came to treating my woman to the best of my abilities.

It started when I moved on campus.

My woman was our only source of income between the both of us.

She was working two jobs. One as a RA for the freshmen dorm and the other as a tutor for their library at school for writing subjects.

She paid for everything and I felt like less of a man because I was supposed to be a provider.

I promised to change this.

I became a RA and made a little bit of cash.

But this wasn’t enough because of the money and the time it took away, so I finally got a full time job post graduation.

I’m using the money from it to learn a skill and build financial confidence for our future.

I’m not saying you should wait to make money to treat your lady right.

When I had no money, I still found ways to build her gifts.

There is no excuse why your man shouldn’t be treating you like a queen.

I don’t have it all but I will work towards having it all for the both of us one day.

We grow together.

Your woman will love to be put on a pedestal.

You will get love in return, but you shouldn’t do it just because of what you will receive in return.

She will love the effort and your life will be much less stressful.

There won’t be arguments on whether or not you two are the best fit for each other because the answer will be clear.

You’ll have more time to do what you want to do instead of using that energy negatively in an argument.

You can take care of business and have leisure time.

And this is good for the relationship because it shouldn’t feel like a full time job.

Why am I telling you this?

Because how you do one thing is how you do anything.

So if you are mistreating your woman, you’ll mistreat your business and won’t put in the effort.

You’ll wait to have money to make your business successful, or you won’t feel like doing the little things to build your value because of you not having instant gratification.

Treat your woman like a queen and your business like your woman and you will thrive.

I keep getting rejected and have no money or testimonies for the work that I put in.

There will be days when I get a yes but they won’t respond.

And days when I do the work and they don’t even send me back a 2 minute video testimony for my services.

It just makes me feel like giving up because I don’t see my goals in sight.

My goals aren’t to become a millionaire in the first year or even $100k, but to only make an extra $1k a month.

The days that it doesn’t feel achievable, I will just go into the community and everything will feel better.

And I feel even more better when I see people actually earning money and talking about quitting their job from copywriting.

They give tips and whenever I feel discouraged I realize that I have to go in the group again and engage with the community.

And I recently joined toastmasters and other small business groups with my ideal clients.

But I don’t just see them as my clients, but I see them as entrepreneurs also trying to make it out here.

There is a certain aura that you get from being around those who want to improve themselves that you can’t find anywhere else.

So start hanging out with positive people who are growing themselves because you will have no choice but to grow with them.

Runners in track will get excited when they run in a fast heat because they always beat their personal record trying to chase down those who are faster than them.

They aren’t competing against each other but they are competing against the clock.

So when the runners are trying to beat that faster guy, they end up beating their time everytime without even noticing it.

You’ll be worried about chasing those people around you and you will make more money or improve in areas of your life without noticing or worrying about your timeline.

This is why my best advice is to change the crowd you hang out with.

There are days when I don’t even feel like getting out of bed.

And having this group will help you get out of bed so you won’t have to self motivate.

And the best part about the right crowd isn’t necessarily having someone to fall on when you are doing bad but having a group to celebrate with.

Remember this quote my sister said:

“You shouldn’t have to take on things alone when you aren’t.”

So start hanging out with people that will get you ahead in life.

The boy cried wolf.

But no one believed him because he was always playing around about the wolf showing up when it wasn’t.

My niece, A was crying wolf by telling us her sisters were peeing the bed.

We instantly only believed the oldest niece, Rosie, that she wasn’t peeing the bed because there was no reason for her to lie.

And A was crying that they peed the bed so much that we actually began to get angry and accuse her of hating on her sisters because she was the only one to pee in the bed.

She would not only not get electronics, but A wouldn’t be allowed outside for going against her sisters all of the time.

A was determined to prove her sisters were peeing the bed and went and found their dirty underwear out of the laundry basket.

The other two were forced to tell the truth and we found out that they were lying this entire time.

Now the niece that snitch is seen as the golden child and we see her as the example.

And this is how your customers are.

No they aren’t peeing the bed and lying about it.

But customers will call you out when you work in the gray zone of leaving things out to get the sell.

And the worst part about the gray zone is that it works for awhile and then it comes to bite later on.

If you lie to a customer or your service sucks, they are going to talk about it.

And your loyal customers would back you up and tell them how absurd they are like we were to my niece that snitched.

And customers have to be satisfied, so if it isn’t from your service, it’ll be from them exposing you for the fraud you are exactly like my niece went to the lengths of digging in dirty clothes to prove her integrity.

And then others will see it and start to believe them.

Don’t work in the gray zone because customers aren’t as stupid as you believe them to be.

And once they find out you were lying the entire time..

You lose credibility with everyone because people love to gossip and word of mouth is the best marketing tool, but can be your worst enemy if you let it.

Don’t work in the gray zone and be as honest as you can with your customers because it will go a long way.

My cousin loved to learn things the hard way.

He was moving to a new area with his mother and was built up with excitement because this was their first actual home.

Moving builds a lot of eustress because it’s a good thing to start fresh, but it is also very annoying to have to pack, put it on the truck, travel, take it all out, and organize every single time.

So they already had a long day from moving in.

And within the first night they got robbed while sleeping in the backrooms.

They had a cat though, so he should’ve warned them or fended off their house right?

Of course you don’t think that is what it should’ve done, it's a cat.

After this instance they did the logical thing (besides getting a firearm)..

They got a guard dog to do what a simple person would’ve wanted a cat to do in that instance, fend off the home or at least let out a bark to warn them.

It just makes sense that you wouldn’t want a cat to do a dog’s job.

So why do you try to do the jobs of other people when you start your business?

You aren’t a designer, so stop trying to build the logo and web page.

You aren’t a funnel builder, so don’t think you can build a winning funnel.

And you certainly aren’t a copywriter so stop trying to build successful ads.

Honestly, copywriters don’t even do that on the first try all of the time.

Copy is easy once you master it, but very difficult to learn at first.

I’ve been writing copy for a little over half of a year and I’m just now kind of getting the hang of it.

The first couple months was spent actually learning what it was.

Would you want to spend half of a year trying to figure out what copy is?

No.

But you should know enough to know that you need it in the world of business and you won’t have to go through all of the hardships that a copywriter has to go through to even learn it.

So I don’t advise you to take the time to really learn it because at the end of the day, the goal of an entrepreneur is focus.

You focus on running a successful business and you let the copywriters worry about writing a successful ad for you and getting you some engagement.

Word of advice: Hire a copywriter

It all started with meowing day and night when he was starving.

My sisters saw the meowing as a whining kitten and thought that he needed some food.

I was cool with letting him find somewhere else to eat or letting him starve.

I really dislike cats because they always have attitudes and just seem so evil.

But my sisters wanted to be like Dr. Dolittle and save all the animals and feed the kitten who cried outside our window.

He was getting fed so he continued to come back.

And eventually he brought his entire family of five or six greedy cats with him to get some grub.

They needed to eat until their bellies were full or they would begin to hiss and claw at us to get them more.

So for the safety of the family and to not attract rabies from these devilish creatures, my sisters had to keep feeding them.

However, the winter months began to approach us so they didn’t want the ring leader in the cold so they adopted him and named him Shadow.

I guess Shadow marked his territory because the other cats stopped coming once he was taken inside.

And this is how humans are.

Not exactly begging felines.

But they use one opportunity to take advantage of you for an entire lifetime.

It will be the people you least expect like your family or spouse to see you as a pushover and take advantage.

And just like the cats when they take advantage of you once, sometimes they make a habit which turns into a lifestyle.

My brother always used to say..

“Don’t give people an inch or they’ll take a mile.”

So when we are able to do something and get some sort of positive reinforcement with it, we continue to do that thing because it is comfortable for us.

And this level of comfort will push us to do what is making us feel this way of least resistance so getting out of habits could be difficult.

They honestly will start to believe subconsciously that if you let them get away with something once, it will be a continuous process of this, even if not on purpose.

And if you let someone else take advantage of you, you are taking advantage of yourself because how you do one thing is how you do anything.

You’ll train yourself that it’s okay to be taken advantage of and you become stagnant.

So don’t let anyone get one up on you or you are taking yourself for granted.

You are precious and no one is more important in your life than you.

You had an interview before.

You talked to someone before.

And they had to make a decision of whether or not to hire you.

Am I correct?

Yes I know that I am.

So me and a coworker of mine were talking towards the end of the day.

At the current job I’m at sometimes it slows down towards the end of the day.

And we were talking about learning high income skills like closing and copywriting.

I was telling him that it’s good to learn them regardless of whatever aspect of life you are trying to pursue.

And he disagreed.

I was saying that yes I’m using my skills to quit my job and build a legacy eventually.

And he was pleading his case of how he was good with just making a solid average income and just living life.

But I was saying even with that, you still need to learn skills.

And I used the example of how he got this job.

His case was that he just called an old friend and he hooked him up with the job.

And I was saying yes you had to do less persuading because of the previous value you have given.

But he wasn’t trying to hear this.

We were going back and forth.

And we ended up getting nowhere.

It was annoying.

But he just said he simply disagrees with what I’m saying.

But I will tell you that what I’m saying is correct.

If you learn the ability to close, you persuade someone on the phone or in person to take certain actions.

You could use it to get a date.

You could use it to sell products.

Or you could use it to get a job.

There are endless possibilities to having some sort of skill besides being an entrepreneur.

So I would suggest that you take the time now, especially during a pandemic to learn a new skill.

Don’t take this the wrong way.

But I love failing.

I like to think of failing as one step closer to success.

And the best part about it is...

A man isn’t judged by the number of failures they have.

But they are judged by the one success that they have.

Let me give you an example.

Are you familiar with the iPhone?

Of course you are.

Whenever the iPhone launches I realize people saying that they are gonna wait a little bit for the tweaks to be dealt with.

I always wondered what they meant.

Because there would be other customers.

But unlike the customer stated before, some other customers are excited to grab it as soon as it comes out.

And they’ll notice things that don’t work and they respond with anger.

They’ll talk about how bad the iPhone is.

They’ll talk about how much Steve Jobs sucks or whatever.

And then if you cut out the noise they’ll say something that you could use such as the screen doesn’t work.

Then apple will take this and create an update.

With this update they’ll fix the problem and have happy customers again.

Why am I talking about the iPhone launch?

Well because we are like iPhones.

Could you agree your phones got better as time went on?

Of course.

And we do the same thing.

We collect experiences or failures and put them away until they someday become useful.

And a skill like this is especially good for copywriters.

Why?

Because copywriters have a gift of applying something completely different to whatever they’re selling.

They do this because it makes a different selling point for the same object.

And this is why I say nothing really is new.

It’s just a matter of a collection of failures and experiences applied to different points in order to succeed.

You can apply this to copywriting or you can apply it to just life lessons.

And I guarantee you’ll have a new way of looking at different problems to solve.

If you are an English major this isn’t to offend you.

But no I’m not an English teacher.

And no I don’t care for my English to be next level.

For those that wen to school with me know that I’m a good student.

I was 4.0 material.

School was easy.

It’s just a matter of following directions.

And this is how you can pass.

This was me.

Pay attention and then apply.

Maybe this is why copy comes east to me.

But I never was super word savvy.

And this guy was super hype.

He was telling me I should proofread my copy before I post.

I did make a mistake in my copy.

I didn’t put the benefits of my services rather than the misspelling.

I didn’t care about that.

And at the same time with those mistakes.

I got tons of engagement.

And picked up two new clients.

It doesn’t matter.

As long as your English isn’t so bad that it stops the flow of reading completely.

Like this:

Alskiddybsnshsgsf.

See what that did?

But anyway..

You don’t want to be perfect.

In fact, the reader likes mistakes.

Why?

Because it makes you more human.

They’ll feel connected because you make mistakes just like them.

And you can capitalize on this.

Remember people buy people.

And back it up with logic.

If they connect with you, they will be more likely to buy your product or service.

So leave the writing mistakes.

But that doesn’t mean not to edit your copy.

There are other things to look for.

That only a copywriter would know.

So hire one.

Remember they are an expert at that.
