Release the Show: The Seattle Kraken Podcast

In this episode, Ryan and Brett delve into the Seattle Kraken's unpredictable season. Reflecting on the team's peculiar consistency, they seem to alternate between moments of brilliance and severe collapses, which ultimately erodes their confidence. There is a strong emphasis on the need for accountability among players, particularly the younger members of the team, to step up and take on leadership roles.

The duo discusses the recent struggles of the Kraken, particularly during their latest road trip, expressing disappointment about their playoff chances yet remaining optimistic about the potential for younger players like Maddie Beniers to shine. They explore the philosophy that “shooting the puck” leads to positive outcomes and the importance of creating high-quality scoring chances.

Finally, the episode humorously suggests holding a “Kraken Intervention” for the team, highlighting the passionate fan support that remains steadfast, regardless of the challenges faced. It is a hopeful reminder that fans will continue to rally behind the Kraken, urging them to set a stronger tone going forward. #GoKraken

The episode features hosts Brett and Ryan discussing the current struggles of the Seattle Kraken as they reflect on their performance and expectations midway through the season. Brett thinks the Kraken are in a "full-blown tailspin", Ryan thinks there is a lack of cohesion among players, with some wanting to play aggressively while others favor a more cautious approach. Both hosts agree that the key players need to step up, and Yanni Gourde echoed this sentiment, indicating that more emotional engagement and passion are necessary on the ice. Kraken need to get back to fundamentals and win some games on the road! #GOKRAKEN

In this episode, Brett and Ryan have a conversation covering various topics, starting with a playful discussion about hanging a logo on the wall and the challenges of displaying it. They then talk about Ryan's sudden excitement during the pre-show and joke about Austin Powers references, which not everyone in the group fully understands. The hosts move on to discussing hockey, focusing on the Seattle Kraken’s recent games against the Philadelphia Flyers, Calgary Flames, and Colorado Avalanche. They analyze the Kraken's performance, satisfied with their two wins and the close loss to the Avalanche.

The group discusses the concept of "response goals" in hockey, emphasizing their importance and jokingly proposing a reverse strategy of letting the opposing team score first to motivate comebacks. They reference beer league hockey and joke about unconventional sports strategies, all while keeping the conversation light and filled with banter. Toward the end, they reference the movie Seabiscuit to draw a parallel between holding back in competition and achieving a comeback victory.

Hosts Brett and Ryan Wetstein analyze the Seattle Kraken's mixed start to the season, currently holding a 2-2 record after four games. They reflect on the home opener's atmosphere, noting a lack of pre-game excitement due to the unusual afternoon timing. Ryan is disappointed with the team's performance compared to the promotional hype, drawing parallels with the Mariners and Seahawks. Hopefully the Kraken can get some bonding on the road.

They discuss assistant coach Jessica Campbell's significant role in strategic planning and in-game adjustments, particularly praising her impact on the forwards' development. They give flowers to Captain Jordan Eberle. He's a natural fit as captain!

We're excited for the team's potential and the energy at home games and won't stand for mediocrity. And what's with the Davy Jones hat moving to a new, motivational belt?! The team's identity should stem from hard work and performance rather than gimmicks, we need team spirit and accountability for a successful season!

The day has come for Coach Hack to find another team and Brett, Ryan and Chris are ... actually kinda sad about it. We play a bit of our favorite game, Should They Stay or Should They Go? What kind of coach do you want to see next, and most of all, make Matty B earn his spot! Go Kraken!

It's a full Hockey show, the entire time... for real! Is there a curse of the Coyotes? Chris is back to predicting scores, Ryan wants us to keep an eye on Shane Wright, and Brett just wants to talk Mariners. Go Kraken!

Don't look now but we think the "I-5-alry" might be happening! Plus, who was your favorite 90's Seattle Weather man? We also chat about Teoscar Hernandez... wait, is this a Hockey show? The Kraken are doing well but we still find something to yell about (it's the Davy Jones hat!) We cheer for McCann and we want more lasagna for Matty B! Go Kraken!

On this episode, it's not a question anymore. We suck. We go through the season so far and try to figure out the difference from when we were winning and, well... now. The players are mad and the team seems divided. Maybe a naming Captain would help them? Plus, can we get a little excitement from the crowd? Let's see some energy all around! Go Kraken!!
