Remember That Guy? episodes

  • RTG? 033: Kentucky Fried Colonels

It'd be understandable if you mistook this week's episode for a Budweiser commercial, but those aren't Clydesdales that you hear. No, in fact, that's just the sound of Hosts James and Diaz as they meet with Very Special Guest Xavier to discuss a topic he's brought them specially for today: Workhorse Guys.

Xavier is the first one out of the starting gate, but while we might often associate horses with glue, this one is all rubber (11:23); Diaz makes a move on the outside and shoots from the outside corner (27:30); and coming down the homestretch, James goes to the hardware store so they can get a stud finder (50:09). Seems like this one will come down to the photo finish! (1:15:31)

  • RTG? 032: Krazy Kus and the Kross Kountry Koriolis Effekt

Why do we break down Guys? So we can build them back up! And we're bringing some back up this week, as Hosts James and Diaz call on very Special Guest Xavier to help them out, as they discuss new candidates for entry into the Hall's Builders Category.

James once again gets the ball rolling, with the ebbs and flows of a Guy who changed the tides of history for fan engagement (12:42); Diaz serves up a Guy who was a constant(ine) presence in the lives of troubled New York boxers for decades (34:50); and Xavier wraps it up by taking the long and hard way through the ups and downs of a running legend over the course of his life (1:04:47). But which of these Guys will be building themselves a new wing in the Hall this week? (1:29:12)

  • RTG? 031: Mission Im-Boz-ible

No more bonus episodes this week, folks, we are back and better than ever this week with a Hot and Ready batch of fresh new Guys. This time, Hosts James and Diaz again welcome Very Special Guest Xavier as they convene the Guybunal to discuss Guys Involved In Schemes.

James gets things going with an unfortunate epilogue to last week's love letter to the 2004 Baltimore Orioles (17:47); Diaz goes somewhere over the rainbow where we're off to see a different scheming Wizard of Boz (43:24); and after a brief history of Major Indoor Soccer (1:06:38), Xavier wraps up the craziest story of international football corruption any of us have heard in, like, at least three days (1:08:36). Then, for the first time in nearly a month, we do what we came here to do: induct a new member into the ever growing Hall of Guy (1:27:30).

  • RTG? 030.4: How To Become A Sports Sicko In Three Easy Steps

In a world increasingly dominated by IP and franchise expansion, the time has come for the RTG? origin stories. In our prequel installment this week Hosts James and Diaz welcome Very Special International Guest Xavier as the three turn back the clock to reflect on the teams that made them the sickos that they are today.

First off, Diaz talks about a team that may not have won it all, but definitely took some important Steps in cementing his fandom (12:49); Xavier discusses a championship run with America's favorite zombified avian franchise (39:06); and James remembers remembers when shifting from minors to majors struck a whole new different chord (48:14).

  • RTG? 030.3: Who Wants To Be A Guy-llionaire?

We sincerely hope you enjoy our random trivia trifles every week, cause now we've devoted a full episode to it! Hosts James and Diaz welcome Very Special Guest Xavier and another old friend of their, Better-Late-Than-Never Guest Jake Adams, as the crew launches the first of what will surely be innumerous episodes of their quiz show spin-off: Who Wants To Be A Guy-llionaire?

All of our normal crew has brought some categories for the team to tackle to day, including: Shit or No Shit (17:54); The Other Guys (25:14); Unfortunately... (43:19); Frozen Deuces (48:58); and a final surprise for the contestants (1:01:06). After that final surprise, it's time for the final round, and the crowning of our first ever Guy-llionaire! (1:09:40)

  • RTG? 030.2: For Your Consideration - Heart of (Tempered) Glass

Our Interstitial Interludes continue for another week, as Hosts James and Diaz welcome both Very Special Guest Xavier AND Long-Time-Listener-First-Time-Caller and Friend of the Show Kevin as he makes a case in our ongoing For Your Consideration Series.

After the fab four finish up with Making Memories, Kevin surprises the regular crew with a first: a guest's personal Mt. Guymore from the back catalogue (18:26). Then, it's time for the main event, as he proselytizes for a Guy almost tailor-made for induction (that's tailor, *not* Taylor) (21:04). And so the question becomes: how susceptible is the Guybunal to flattery? (1:08:37)

  • RTG? 030.1: Bans A Make Her Dance, Sponsored by Haterade

Hosts James and Diaz have called on their Very Special Guest Xavier to join them once again, but it's not for any kind of induction this time. Oh no, dear listener, rather it is time for Mehmet Okur to get some company, as we discuss Persons* Banned from the Hall.

First, our hosts let their Petty Pennants fly, as each takes some time round robin style to air their grievances on their own particular trifling trio of bans (11:43). After all that, their reserves of pettiness not yet exhausted, they try to fly lightning-quick through more real or imagined slights deserving of punishment (57:02). Just a real Hater's Ball this week!

*-Any such banned person may not be referred to as a Guy, in perpetuity

  • RTG? 030: Reliti-Guy-Tion 3: Tokyo Drift

It's that time again, dear listeners, where Hosts James and Diaz must, with the help of Very Special Guest Xavier, call a meeting of the Hall of Guy's Veterans Committee, the Guy-bunal if you will, in order to reconsider some of our previous entrants in another edition of Reliti-Guy-tion.

In Round 1 this time around, James picks a candidate typically used to helping others run; Xavier puts some but not all of his eggs in one Basket; and when it comes time for Diaz to pick, he punts on the decision (14:07). Then, in Round 2, James drinks the Red-Bull flavored Kool-Aid, Xavier bases his decision on seniority, and Diaz goes ahead and Blazes one (21:20). Then, it's time for the committee to make their final deliberations on the new Reliti-Guy-tion class (31:20).

  • RTG? 029: No Bauvinism Allowed

The sports stars at night are big and bright *clapclapclap* deep in the heart of Texas! Very Special Guest Xavier makes it back from his trip to the Lone Star state just in time to meet up with Hosts James and Diaz, and he's only got one thing on his mind: Texas Guys!

The Very Special Guest begins the round with a Guy that really had a lot of drive (13:10); then James cuts through the bullshit with their entry (34:09); all before Diaz goes ahead and knocks everybody out with his (55:52). It all leads to a monumental first as the debate rages on regarding this week's induction into the Hall of Guy (1:28:58).

  • RTG? 028: A Brawl Broke Out At The Fight

While Luther Vandross is no longer with us, Hosts James and Diaz (along with Very Special Guest Xavier) have One Shining Moment on the mind this week as they discuss a fresh course of Guys.

Diaz's Guy this week is well known for punching above his weight (16:53); Xavier brings up a Guy known for crushing it during and after a bowl game (47:36); and then James really knuckles down to try and finish strong (1:09:22). But, is their finish strong enough to deliver a winning argument during deliberation for the Hall (1:31:19)?
