Elisa Buggy is a Board Director with Mike Carroll for the Victorian Alcohol and Drug Association (VAADA) and is the CEO of West CASA (Centre Against for Sexual Assault).
Elisa grew up on Palawa Country, also known as Tasmania. She loves meeting new people, cooking, her couch, and her family - and she also seems to be a perpetual student.
She is deeply committed to making the world a better place - at least in the way that she sees it - and is magnetised towards the proverbial 'too hard baskets' (a term she finds both deeply offensive and all too prevalent).
Elisa loves building community - especially where it's lacking - and is always up for a philosophical meander through the meaning of life.
Oh! And she's also a Social Worker with an MBA who is plodding slowly through a law degree.
She sits on multiple community boards and is very proud to be leading West CASA in these fascinating times!

Guarenteed addiction removal - or your money back…
Robb has overcome homelessness, alcohol dependency, trauma, PTSD, and MDD and a whirlwind of events to be the "Gordon Ramsay" of the addiction treatment world.

Rosalyn Hennesy is a woman with lived experience of both mental health and lived experience of dependence of both drugs and alcohol.
For 23 years she used any substance available to cope with a vast history of trauma and grief most of which she is still unravelling. Today she is approaching 5 years in “recovery”.
She is also a trained mental health and drug and alcohol support worker and has been advocating for a reform on drugs for many years.
In 2018 Rosalyn was involved in the Uniting Churches documentary “Half a million steps” and then moved to Sydney to become a lived experienced team leader on the Fair Treatment campaign. In this role Rosalyn had the chance to speak about her experiences and opinions in many capacities including panels, with parliamentarians, the general public.
In 2021 Rosalyn became a co-founder of Public Health en Afrique and in charge of the mental health and drug and alcohol sector to advocate and raise awareness for women and children in Africa. Rosalyn is currently taking a break from volunteering due to her disability and health.
Rosalyn loves to openly discuss her views and believes that treatment for all should be made available. It makes sense not just for societal and humane reasons but economic reasons too.
Jess and I welcome Rosalyn to Removing Addiction and strongly urge you to listen to this episode that offers a story of phenomenal resilience and love.

Nicole's story...
We do recover- I consider myself a recovered addict, I am 43 years of age mum of 4 boys, wife, daughter, sister and aunt/godmother. Addiction does not discriminate.
I was addicted to ICE for a very small time in my 30’s, (5-7 years) and it did not take long until my life began to spiral out of control.
Jail became a revolving door, I committed more crime to fuel my addiction so I could hide it from my children and family (so I thought) until enough was enough.
Today, I am almost at my 5 year mark drug free/crime free. I have spent the last 5 years studying AOD and mental health, I volunteered at a hospital detox and I’m now blessed to be employed in the community service sector helping others.
I do as much as I can for the community as a way of giving back and to help stop the cycle by being non judgmental, being kind, being part of a bigger plan of education, prevention amongst the community, helping people link up to services for support.
At the time of addiction, you just do not know what help is out there (if there is any) and then there is the stigma when you actually decide to go to get help, the wait times for public health is such a huge mountain to climb, you discover the rules attached to services - the criteria.
My goal is to work towards a better future with accessible services for everyone to access easily, remove the judgement, remove the stigma and educate.
Thank you so much Nicole for sharing your story demonstrating we can change and you are the change you want to see for others in the world.

PTSD stands for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
This week on the show, we take a break from the prison theme we seem to have adopted, (for no particular reason) and welcome Scott from PTSD Brokensword. Here’s what Scott said when I asked what message he would you like to communicate about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
“I think we need to stop the stigma of PTSD and look at how we can help people get through it. Over the years there have not been many people to help people suffering from PTSD and that’s changing and I’m glad that there are people like you helping out”.
If you have a PTSD diagnosis or you have a loved one, take a listen to this weeks show and connect with Scott from PTSD Broken Sword.
Unfortunately, more and more people have a PTSD diagnosis and it is through connection that enables support that we strongly encourage you to seek.
Thank you Scott for sharing your story with Removing Addiction and Healing Mental Health.
Thanks to Executive Producer Jared Aviet and voiceover from Nathan Gardiner.
