Followers can number in the billions as is the case with Islam, or it could be millions, as is the case with the Branhamists. Branhamism is the curious theology and collection of doctrines espoused by William M. Branham, a self-proclaimed prophet and faith healer. The Fahringer family is on their way to Chile! In this episode of the Removing Barriers podcast, Geoffrey Fahringer takes precious time out of his day to tell us more about the country of Chile, the spiritual needs there, and his family's desire to minister to the people there. Chile is a long, narrow, beautiful strip of land in South America spanning from the base of Peru all the way down to the tip of the continent, and jumping the ocean to claim certain parts of Antartica. The people groups are diverse, but the need is the same: a saving faith and growing relationship with the Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ. Geoffrey Fahringer would have never in a million years seen himself as a missionary because he was far along the path of military service and law enforcement. But after the Lord saved him, it became increasingly clear that God had plans for his family in that beautiful country. Geoffrey and his family surrendered, and today we get to hear all about what God has been doing to bring a gospel witness to the people there. If you didn't realize he had that power, you're in good company, because we sure didn't realize it, either! We also discuss the hottest (no pun intended) dance gone viral as Los Angeles burns to the ground: the Newsom Shimmy! The tone-deaf governor debuted the moves for local news outlets while gleefully announcing ongoing talks with speculators on how to divvy up the charred remains of LA. If that isn't bonkers enough, we also discuss a Satanic temple opening a religious abortion clinic, as well as some doctors who withheld study findings on transgender mental health because the results did not support their activism. Hinduism is the world's third largest religion, surpassed only by Islam and Christianity. Having originated in the Indian subcontinent over 2,500 years ago, Hinduism is practiced by more than one billion people worldwide, 96% percent of which live in India. Hinduism came under the neon lights of American public discourse and scrutiny with Vivek Ramaswamy's candidacy for president in the 2024 election (see episode 142). What is Hinduism, and what do Hindus believe? Is it compatible with Christianity or does it stand in stark contrast? On this episode of the Removing Barrier podcast, we sit down with Jacob to answer these questions and come to a better understanding of that faith. Jacob is a stalwart Christian and, having been born and raised in India, has a more thorough understanding of Hinduism and how it differs from Christianity. We don't need a bad meme to know that of all the nations on earth, the United States is the only one with the right to keep and bear arms enshrined in the law of the land with absolutely no restrictions. There are more guns than people in the U.S., and the number of gun owners in any other nation pales in comparison. But the United States is also in significant moral decline, and the absolute tragedy of preventable gun violence is a harrowing reality that demands attention. What that attention should be, however, is hotly contested with no real resolution in sight. Though the problem is complex and multi-faceted, one area seems to be gaining steam, namely, the prosecution of parents for gun violence committed by their children. Whether for a school shooting or a single person attack, parents have been indicted, tried, convicted, and sentenced for a crime they did not commit. Is this right? Should parents be responsible for major crimes their children commit? In what ways are parents responsible for the safety of their children and others when it comes to firearms? On this episode of the Removing Barriers, we sit down with gun expert and enthusiast Michael Jordan (of no relation to THEE Michael Jordan) to discuss the these questions, as well as role and impact society has in this matter.
