Removing Barriers

Episode 87

Series: How Were Your Barriers Removed - 25

This week, we continue the How Were Your Barriers Removed series in an interview with recurring guest MD. Traditionally in this series, we focus on the barriers people have regarding salvation, but there are also barriers after salvation that can keep us from seeing the cross clearly in all areas of our lives. MD was born into a Christian household to parents involved in ministry and gives testimony of having been saved very early on in life.  In this episode, he shares some of the barriers he encountered after salvation, and how the Lord proved Himself to be the Author and Finisher of his faith, just as He promises to be the same for all who will trust Him.

Episode 86

Back in January of 2022, Whoopi Goldberg declared on the View that the Holocaust was not about race, but instead a case of white-on-white brutality showcasing the evil that man is capable of toward his fellow man. She received significant criticism for it, with sentiments ranging from horrified indignation to merciful understanding of what she was actually trying to say. But what, exactly, was she trying to say? On this episode of the Removing Barriers podcast, we are going to try and hash that out. What was the intent of her statement and was the criticism she got justified or unwarranted? Join us and decide for yourself.

Episode 85

Series: How Were Your Barriers Removed - 24

This interview was conducted before allegations and confirmations were made public that Micah Wilder and Lila LeBaron were living sinful lives incompatible with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. With prayerful consideration, we have decided to leave these interviews as they were initially published, not because we approve, justify, or encourage their sin (we do not!), but that all would be publicly documented and transparent. Allegedly, Micah Wilder and Lila LeBaron have refused to repent of their sin and have even doubled down, even in the face of widespread calls to repentance. May this entire tragic situation remind us to be vigilant against the deceptiveness of sin and our own flesh, and that we must trust and follow the Lord in all the minutiae of life, lest we deceive ourselves (Jer 17:9; Isa 47:10; 1 Jn 1:8). See: https://www.mscbc.org/adamsroadstatement.htm and https://www.calvarylebaron.com/the-end-of-adams-road-band-and-ministry

Today we continue the series exploring how the Lord Jesus Christ removes barriers in sinners' lives to bring about salvation. In this latest installment, we sit down with Lila Lebaron to hear about how her barriers were removed. Lila, a young lady Christ saved out of Mormonism, grew up in a polygamist community in Chihuahua, Mexico. Though her surroundings presented a set of barriers to salvation, it was the unseen barriers within her that threatened to gobble her up whole. But Christ overcame them to save her soul: the fear, the doubt, the guilt, the hopelessness. Join us on this episode of the Removing Barriers podcast as Lila proclaims how Christ not only saved her from those internal monsters, but broke her free from Mormonism's damning grasp as well.

Episode 84

Consider these startling findings by Ligonier Ministries' biannual State of Theology survey of professing Christians: 54% agree that religious belief is a matter of personal opinion; it is not about objective truth. 65% agree that everyone sins a little, but most people are good by nature. Only 25% agree that even the smallest sin deserves eternal damnation. These findings may provide some insight into why a majority of professing Christians not only see soul-winning as optional, but also feel it is inappropriate to actively evangelize the world around us. In this episode of the Removing Barriers podcast, we sit down with Edward Thal and talk about soul-winning: what is it, and why should we care? Edward Thal has been actively soul-winning for over 30 years, has been on the mission field, and has organized outreach efforts for churches. May this episode spur us to fervent soul-winning and heartfelt love and obedience to Christ.

When God reached down from heaven to remove barriers and save Edward Thal's soul, no one realized the extent to which that God was setting in motion a series of dominoes that would greatly benefit so many people around the world, both saved and unsaved. Edward Thal was a very successful business man in South Africa where he was born and raised, but he walked away from it all and moved to the west as he began an earnest search for God. When God was pleased to reveal Himself, the barriers came tumbling down and his new life in Christ took off. Join us on this episode of the Removing Barriers Podcast as we discover how Edward Thal's barriers were removed.

Series: How Were Your Barriers Removed - 22

In this episode of the Removing Barriers podcast, we interview the mother of Micah Wilder, Dr. Lynn Wilder. Micah Wilder is a former Mormon missionary who came to faith in Christ after hearing the gospel from a Baptist pastor he was trying to convert to Mormonism. (Listen to Micah's testimony: https://removingbarriers.net/rbp_68/). After coming to genuine faith, he challenged his mother to read the scriptures like a child to see God for who He is. Dr. Lynn Wilder took him up on his challenge and by God's mercy, she encountered the true Christ and came to genuine faith. The barrier of Mormonism was a formidable one, especially since she was both a Mormon for 30 years and a tenured professor at Brigham Young University, but it was no match for the exceeding excellencies of the gospel of Christ. Join us as we find out how God tore those barriers down and how He is using her testimony to draw lost hearts to Him from all over the globe.

Episode 81

In the summer of 2021, the world witnessed the unmitigated disaster of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. Like unwilling witnesses to a train wreck in progress, we were unable to look away as the nightmare unfolded. Desperate civilians clinging to departing planes fell to their deaths. Babies were handed to troops across barbed wire. The Taliban acquired abandoned military equipment and weapons. Allies and American citizens were abandoned behind enemy lines. The country fell to the Taliban in a matter of days. To boot, 13 American service members and about 70 Afghan citizens were killed in a suicide bombing at Hamid Karzai International Airport were untold numbers of people were waiting for a flight out.

Though virtually everyone is in agreement that the withdrawal was a failure, opinions are still split as to whether the U.S. should have withdrawn in the first place. In this episode on the Removing Barriers podcast, we have a conversation with Missionary Scott about this, what the withdrawal means for both countries moving forward, and other things that we should keep in mind as we evaluate this historic event.

Twenty-four percent of all the people living in the world identify as Muslim and some sources identify Islam as the fastest growing religion in the world. The range of beliefs within Islam extend from Islamism to secularism, with adherents falling anywhere in between. In this episode of the Removing Barriers podcast, we sit down with Leopold, whose extensive study of the religion helps us gain a preliminary understanding of what Muslims believe, how it animates their lives, and how it compares to the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Perhaps you are searching for a starting point to understanding Muslims or maybe looking for insight into how to witness to them and point them to Christ.
