Episode 106

On the heels of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, we turn our attention to something that needs the spotlight more than it actually gets: adoption. The picture of adoption is most vividly portrayed in what God accomplished in salvation. Every single person whom Christ has saved is adopted into the family of God, made co-heirs with Christ. What a beautiful picture of adoption! In this episode of the Removing Barriers, we are exploring adoption in a 2-part interview. Pete and Erin have adopted their son and hope perhaps in the future to adopt again, and they have agreed to sit down with us to give their unique perspectives on the issue of adoption. It is our hope that these interviews will stir us to consider this great work, not only as the obvious answer to many of the ills in our society, but also the possibility of it as Christian duty.

Episode 105

On the frontlines of the abortion issue in the United States are hundreds of pregnancy resource centers, providing help, healthcare, and counseling to women in crisis pregnancy situations all over the country (and services are extended to the children's fathers as well). Unlike Planned Parenthood that provides death services under the guise of healthcare, pregnancy resource centers actually provide prenatal care (many with free ultrasounds) in order to help people make the best decision in their situation: protecting the life of the innocent preborn child. Some of the people seeking their help do not choose that optimal outcome, but these centers lovingly provide the care anyway. They've also been the target of attacks, both political and physical, and many people are not clear on what services they actually provide. In this episode of the Removing Barriers podcast, we interview Becky Sheetz, CEO of Life First Pregnancy Medical Center, a pregnancy resource center in Virginia. In this interview, we learn about all that pregnancy resource centers have to offer, what their needs are, and how you can join the effort and help.

The reaction to the Supreme Court's decision has galvanized millions to pull out all the stops to see the ruling reversed. Wade in June of 2022, the reactions have been at once intense and galvanizing on both sides all over the country.  We have found, however, that many responses are shaped by misinformation and incorrect assumptions, supposing the ruling does something it does not actually do. What exactly does the overturning of Roe v. Wade mean for the country as a whole? What does it mean for the states? Episode 102

Christians and other pro-lifers across the country rejoiced when the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June of 2022. But there is yet more work to be done. The number of abortions taking place that we know of inevitably includes women who are a part of a church, or worse yet, profess Christ. That's right, Christian women across the country are either getting abortions, considering getting an abortion, see nothing wrong with abortion, or are being pressured by others to get an abortion. What does this mean? How could this be? One likely explanation is that many (too many) in the Church may not be looking to the scriptures to lay out how we should be thinking about abortion. What does the Bible say about life in the womb? Is it even a life? Since the Bible does not mention "abortion," how can we prove from the scriptures that it is sin? On this episode of the Removing Barriers podcast, we interview recurring guest Pastor Todd to get a clear understanding of God's heart and decree on the issue.

Every so often and at certain milestones, it is good to look back and reflect on where you've come from, and how God has worked along the way. Nearly two years ago now, U.S. cities were on fire, racial tensions were at an all time high, and the historically obvious nature of gender was now up for debate. Though the temptation was great to fume and rant at the talking heads on TV, the Lord put it on our hearts to start a podcast that would address these issues (and many others) from a biblical perspective with the aim of removing barriers that hinder a clear view of the cross. Thus, the Removing Barriers podcast was born. Today, we praise and thank God for 100 episodes, and we look forward to what He has planned next on the Removing Barriers Podcast.

MCG was born and grew up in the lovely Caribbean country of Antigua. His mother regularly attended Salvation Army ladies' group and his uncle was a devout Rastafarian managing large flocks and herds of livestock. Jay sits on the other side of the microphones to give testimony of how the Lord Jesus Christ removed the barriers she had to salvation. Her religious upbringing mixed with her own apathy and carelessness created those barriers, but they were no match for the Savior. Her testimony also highlights God's patient faithfulness in continuing to remove barriers after salvation: the many barriers to sanctification and growth. Praise be to the Lord Jesus Christ who seeks and saves those that are lost and leads them along!
