We spoke with Professor Leslie Thomas QC, one of the top barristers in the country and a leading expert in civil rights. We asked him about his Career, his advice on knowing your rights when interacting with the police and he also spoke about of the families he has supported and notable cases in his career. We have split this talk into 2 parts as there was so much great advice we didnt want to miss anything!

This week we have something a little different, lots of young people have recently gone back to school, which in itself has been hard, but also lots of  young people for many reasons can’t go back yet. So we wanted to have a chat with everyone and hear how they are doing. We thought we’d reflect on a year since lockdown began, a year since we started our podcast and a year since we all saw each other last. It was really nice to just have a fun open chat that everyone was welcome to contribute to. We definitely missed that social interaction. 

So this episode is key highlights from our open chat with the young people. It goes wildly on and off topic but it was so nice to hear everyone laughing, sharing and being themselves, we can not wait for lockdowns to finish, shieldings to end us all be able to have fun and see each other again.

We have another incredibly inspirational talk with a talented entrepreneur, we are super lucky that we got to speak with jewellery designer and creative director Tessa Packard. She launched her own brand Tessa Packard London in 2013 and she’s created many collections, some can be seen on celebrities at awards and premiers, and she regularly features in luxury fashion & Lifestyle magazines like Conde Naste Traveller, Lux Magazine and Vanity Fair to name a few,

Thank you so much for talking to us Tessa, this was such a fun chat and you gave us such important information, even the fact you showed us your scrapbook and past collections and talked us through your creative process, that was amazing, we’ve never seen anything like that before and it was so fun. We were really inspired by this!

Thanks to all the young people that took part. I learned so much from the questions you asked! They were brilliant and it felt very refreshing to be able to learn about ethical business practices. It’s important to all of us and I feel so lucky we had the chance to learn from Tessa. Keep up those amazing questions RF Young Leaders!

I am really excited to share this conversation that we had with the talented Fashion Designer and entrepreneur Priya Ahluwalia. She founded her own menswear brand called Ahluwalia in 2018 and since then

Ahluwalia won the LVMH 2020, the H&M Design Award in 2019, she collaborated with Adidas at Paris Fashion Week for Autumn/Winter 2019 and at the time of recording she had just shown her Spring/Summer 2021 collection as part of London Fashion Week 2020. 

Thank you so much for taking the time to talk to us Priya, you are a fountain of knowledge and means so much to us for you to share that with our young leaders! It was an insight into the industry we would not have got otherwise and it felt great to have our questions answered and be invited to take part in the future.

We are continuing to focus on wellbeing this week, with a very special episode you can follow along at home with! We are sharing our Mindfulness and Meditation session that we had with Charlie from the London Buddhist Centre. We had a great session Charlie, thanks for introducing us to these techniques and explaining how they can help. It was also nice to connect digitally as RF used to be down the road from London Buddhist Centre in Bethnal Green. It makes us miss being able to go outside, and we’ll definitely pay a visit once the lockdowns have ended!

Thank you for taking the time to talk to us, and explaining how you got into meditation. how it helped yourself and the people around you when you were going through an extremely difficult time. We really appreciate you sharing this with us and showing us how we can use it.

We felt extremely luck to speak with Dr Maria Loades who has been leading pioneering research into the effect lockdowns have on young people’s mental health. Thank you Dr Maria Loades for taking the time to talk to us and including our young people in the conversation about the importance of mental health. It was incredibly insightful to see this research and have it explained to us as it’s developing. Thank you for treating our young people with the value they deserve.

Dr. Maria Loades is a Senior Lecturer/Clinical Tutor for the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme at the University of Bath. She is a qualified Clinical Psychologist that works in a variety of mental health settings, including adult mental health, a children’s inpatient unit, and various community CAMHS. She has a myriad of qualifications including a post graduate from oxford university and a fellowship from the university of Bath. Dr Maria Loades is an expert in her field and we want to say thank you again for taking the time to talk to us! We really appreciate it!

we reached out to Inner Space London and had a workshop about thinking more positively with Furkan.

Inner Space London is a meditation and personal development centre in Covent Garden. They run free live online meditations, seminars, talks and online wellbeing sessions for the workplace. They also have a bookshop dedicated to products to aid and develop meditation or personal growth.
