Meghan Markle, movie ad warnings and a judge decrying the Koran… are all making news across the pond and Down Under.

As an independent American woman, Meghan Markle has been oblivious to terrorism. That is, until she was warned by U.K. police to stop shutting her own car door. Hear why and whether she has taken it to heart.

A new “Communities Defeat Terrorism” ad campaign was launched in U.K. movie theaters as a run-up to the Oscars. Just like our “If you see something, say something,” it’s meant to keep the public alert and confident enough to report suspicious acts. But their campaign has some new twists, including the motto “Life has no rewind button.” Hear what three scenes their ad depicts as situations that should send you running to their anti-terrorism hotline and why there has been a backlash.

In Australia, a judge sentencing two terrorists, nicknamed “Bonnie and Clyde,” called upon Muslims to publically disavow the violent verses of the Koran that inspire terrorism. Imagine the reaction if this happened in the U.S.!

The notes to the financial statements have a detailed section on income taxes. And what this tells us is that all of the income taxes Netflix paid in 2018 were foreign taxes. Zero federal income taxes, zero state income taxes in the US.'

Gardner said the public is now 'getting its first hard look at how corporate tax law changes under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act affected the tax-paying habits of corporations'.

He said: 'With a record number of subscribers, the company's profit last year equaled its haul in the previous four years put together. When hugely profitable corporations avoid tax, that means smaller businesses and working families must make up the difference.'
The blackface images have particular resonance in the United States at a time when the governor of Virginia and his attorney general have been caught up in a scandal over blackface incidents from their college days in the 1980s. The offensive depictions are reminiscent of traveling minstrels from the 19th Century, who would paint their faces black to portray African characters in a ridiculous and mocking fashion, spreading racial stereotypes along the way.

Italian sociologist Michele Sorice at Rome's Luiss university says that the evocation of blackface by Italian fashion houses signals "a mixture of good faith, and ignorance." He noted that Italian society still wasn't fully aware of the racial charge in some words and images.

"I imagine that they don't truly think they are racist," Sorice said. "I think they didn't have the instruments to understand that these images are archetypes that were used to contrast the concept of blackness and make them ridiculous. I think that many simply don't know. It is a cultural issue."

Paolo Cillo, a marketing professor at Milan's Bocconi University, said the designer's intent may have been taken out of context and amplified, and she credited Gucci with acting swiftly to quell the controversy.

Minutes later the president blasted lawmakers, mostly those on the left, for opposing his top agenda item – hundreds of miles of steel walls on the southern border.

'Wealthy politicians and donors,' he complained, 'push for open borders while living their lives behind walls and gates and guards.'

Democrats groaned when he referred to a 'moral duty' to protect Americans from an 'onslaught' of migrants forming a new caravan in Central America and heading north.

He demanded 'a new physical barrier, or wall, to secure the vast areas between our ports of entry,' while chastising lawmakers for their unwillingness to comply.

'In the past, most of the people in this room voted for a wall. But the proper wall never got built,' he said. 'I'll get it built.'

Pelosi chatted with Vice President Mike Pence, visible to the world behind the man of the hour, rising only to applaud patriotic, nonpartisan lines.

She wasn't amused to hear the president castigate her party for what's expected to be two years of aggressive congressional probes into everything from White House security clearances to as-yet unproven links between Trump's 2016 campaign and Russian agents.

The attorney hired by Jay, Alex Spiro, also released a statement to the celebrity news site.

"We are not going to stop until he is released, bonded out or in front of a judge," he told TMZ. "What we have here is someone who overstayed their Visa with an application pending for four years—not a convicted criminal that needs to be detained and removed but, by all accounts a wonderful person, father, and entertainer who has a marijuana offense which was vacated and sealed."

In addition to Jay-Z, many more of 21 Savage's peers have come to his defense, including J. Cole and even Georgia representative Henry C. "Hank" Johnson—who wrote an endorsement letter and shared it with ICE on Twitter.
