Prayer is not a magic lamp that we can rub to get our way, but prayer is powerful and as James shows, a mature community is prayerful. Not only in victory is prayer powerful, but in times of despair and great difficulty. Ultimately, prayer aligns us with God's will to work all things for good in the long term, despite there sometimes being pain in the short term.

This week, we continue our series titled Jesus Stories, where we look at the different interactions Jesus had that changed lives. We look at the woman Jesus spoke to by the well and the love that Jesus was able to demonstrate to her. Jesus didn't just love her, but knew her checkered past and still loved her and offered her the living water He offers us all. Like Jesus, we have a chance to love humanity the same way and that love comes more generously as we deepen our relationship with Him.

This week we continued our series titled, Jesus Stories, where we look at the different lives that Jesus touched and the impact He had on them. We focused on John the Baptist and how his whole life pointed toward Jesus. As we look at John’s life, we see that he came to understand the importance of knowing who he was, and who he was not. Even in the midst of confusion and frustration with Jesus, He chose to bring all of his doubts straight to the source of truth – Jesus Himself. John the Baptist gives us a great picture of what it means for Jesus to be the hero of our own story, even through confusion and disappointment.
