God longs for a close, intimate relationship with His people. Intimacy takes time and effort and must be valued and pursued.
Jacob, now Israel, has come full circle in his spiritual growth to receive his full inheritance after the passing of his father, Isaac, at Hebron, which means "Friend". A friend is different than a follower and God often calls on his friends when he is moving in a new way. Jacob's friendship with God is the most valuable thing he will inherit and it becomes the foundation of a new nation.
