MMT is a tool that can be deployed by socialist governments that issue their own currency, like the UK. Carlos Hernandez has written a compelling book that will be a crucially important guide for socialists in the 21st century. Fiat Socialism provides the perfect riposte to right-wing sceptics who always ask, "How are you going to pay for it?" when proposals for a good society are put forward. Fiat Socialism puts flesh on the bones of Tony Benn's comment, "If we can find the money to kill people, we can find the money to help people."

When Palestinians come together to commemorate the Nakba (meaning "the catastrophe") on May 15th, it goes beyond recalling a tragic historical event that occurred 75 years ago. It signifies the enduring impact of the Nakba, which resulted in the displacement of over 750,000 Palestinians from their ancestral land, the destruction of 400 villages and towns, and the loss of thousands of lives.

The commemoration also serves as a reminder that the Nakba did not end in 1948 but persists in various forms to this day. Palestinians refer to this ongoing struggle as the "ongoing Nakba," characterised by ongoing suffering, the destruction of homes, and the loss of Palestinian lives. They witness it through the continuous Israeli annexation of their land and frequent attacks on their homes in Gaza. Furthermore, they experience regular violations of their human rights, both within Israel and in the occupied territories and Gaza Strip. Joining Chris Williamson tonight is Ronnie Barkan as we delve into the ongoing Nakba and shed light on the current realities faced by Palestinians.

In the recent local elections, independent candidates who had previously been part of the labor party made waves throughout the country. One noteworthy example was in Gaston, Liverpool, where Sam Gorst and Lucy Williams defeated the labor party in a stunning upset. Tonight, we're excited to have them join us on Resistance TV to discuss their experience. Despite facing underhanded tactics and smears from their opponents, they emerged victorious. With the US-led aggressive Nato alliance accelerating its drive towards a global war, there is an urgent need to unite the world anti-imperialist movement and mobilise the masses to oppose Nato's war machinery and aggressive moves everywhere.

You can read the Platform's declaration, which set out the founding principles around which it is organising, on its website: wap21.org.

So far, it has held conferences in Paris (October 2022) and Belgrade (December 2022). After Venezuela's PSUV signed the Paris Declaration, it was decided to hold the next conference in Latin America in March. This will be followed by a conference in East Asia (south Korea) in May and one in Africa (tbc) later in the year. 

The Platform's reach and activity are growing fast, and the analysis it is bringing to the antiwar movement is vitally necessary, setting out clearly the need to support all the targets of imperialist aggression, from Russia, China and the DPRK to Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, Congo, Syria, Afghanistan and too many more.

Rabbi Dovid Weiss, leader of the Neturei Karta USA, is to tour Britain with Palestinian author and broadcaster Dr Azzam Tamimi.

In each of 16 cities, they will explore why Orthodox Jews do not recognise Israel and what should stand in its place. One state, a Palestine for all its peoples? Campaign Against Bogus Antisemitism chair and Gaza twinning campaigner Pete Gregson will also talk on using the net to trade with and support Gaza.
