It's the last week of Promises, and the promise gets passed on to Isaac. He starts out in the famine, but God's promise still remains. There's something we can learn from that.

We all have moments in life that stop us in our tracks. These can be good moments or tragic moments. Isaac has many such moments in chapter 25 and so do his (spoiler) two sons.

Obedience means movement. In chapter 24 Abraham tells his servant to go find his son Isaac a wife from his home land. The servant doesn't gather a committee, doesn't wait on it for several days. He goes. Our encouragement is to do the same.

After the death of his wife, Sarah, Abraham has an encounter with the locals that gives us the example of how to interact with our communities.

Is God good? The answer to that question defines our faith or lack thereof. If He is good, then what He asks Abraham to do can be trusted. Abraham trusted in the goodness of God, and God Himself.

Freedom is something that has to be continually pursued. When we live in the Spirit we experience true freedom. Living in the Spirit means we give up the bad things for God things, the good things for God things and we stand up for God things. Abraham experiences this in Genesis 21 and so do we daily.

Communication kills conflict. Abraham reverts back to old habits even in his old age, but thankfully a pagan king once again rebukes him and they talk it out.

Lot finds out the hard way, that compromising with our convictions leads us to Sodom. The little things we give ground on have far reaching ramifications.

Abraham has another encounter with God. This time he gets to get involved in some plans and speak what he's thinking. Prayer works like that. What are you praying for, and who are you praying for?

Remarkable faith is marked by action. Genesis 17 sees Abram get his name changed and also have a pretty intense action step. But don't let the actions and traditions become our god. God is God and He's the reason we have faith and follow.
