God has a way of bringing stories together for His glory. Chapter 40 is full of waiting on God, working for Him while you wait, and trusting Him with the outcomes.

We start a new series in Genesis called, Detours and Delays. God often times takes us on a winding path that doesn't make sense but is there to prepare us. We can learn from Joseph how to continue to remain in Jesus as we walk this path.

Our insecurities shouldn't deter us from being able to speak into other peoples lives. If our sin is keeping us quiet, we need to work on the sin. Kind of like taking the plank out of our eye before we work in the speck in someone elses.

Day 4. We cannot speculate when we make judgements, or judge based on perceptions or outward appearance.

What role do our feelings, opinions and personal beliefs have to do with judgements? Unfortunately quite a bit. Judging our fellow Christian means putting aside biases and opinions and feelings and sticking to what Scripture tells us.

Our brains immediately jump to condemnation when we hear the word judge, but it's important to understand the distinction between the two words and how they separate one from the other. As always, we look to Jesus.

For the next 5 days, we're releasing a topic each evening on judging others and what that looks like in a biblical way. Night One focuses on judging to give life, and taking a look inward before we look at others. 

In the last chapter of Why This Family, we arguably get the most Why This Family story. Before we judge too harshly this messed up family, let's take a look at the culture and see what's going on, and then use grace and understanding when we judge.

The life of Joseph teaches us many things, one of the more common being God uses the experiences of our lives for His purpose. His purpose? Changed hearts. Genesis 37 introduces us to the storyline of Joseph and his life and legacy.

Chapter 36 is all about the genealogy of Esau. It seems like he's got a pretty great life, but as with most things, pride is a ruinous element and Esaus line is not exempt. We take a look at the book of Obadiah to understand the rest of Esau's story, and reads like a warning to the proud.
