Trying to become a better person without the Helper is like trying to be spiritual without the Spirit. The Spirit wants to make you just like Jesus.

The Spirit is the gift Jesus was excited to give when he left this world. Jesus knew the Spirit would change lives and expand the Kingdom. The gift of the Spirit is a one time event. The filling of the Spirit is a daily choice.

To grow you need to be acquainted with the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is not an it, but a someone. Someone you and I need to know if we are going to grow and experience the grand adventure God has for us.

Jeff talks about how humans like to move away from discomfort and towards comfort. He explains our relationships both with God and others, in a tangible metaphor using a house and rooms and how we slowly shut ourselves out from others.

It is ok to ask questions. God can handle the truth. He created it. We are all on a journey of learning what is true about God and therefore everything else. Asking questions deepens our appreciation of the mystery of God.

48% of Americans are post-Christian. They do not trust the Bible. The foundation of our faith is not the Bible. It is Jesus and his resurrection. We want to quote not the Bible, but the witnesses who wrote it, as they point us to Jesus and his resurrection.

Science impacts our understanding of the universe. If we read the Bible as science we will mis-read it and we will mis-read science. This keeps people from following Jesus!

Many people do not trust the Bible because of the violence in it and the violence done by people who claim to read it.

The Bible is a library of books, written by humans, inspired by God to inspire us to become more human. If we misunderstand what the Bible is, we will miss out on the God who it wants us to experience.
