Retro Life 4 You

Last week we did a cover on Road House and talked about it for our episode and after the episode was released I received messages on Facebook from someone telling me I had messed up some of the names and was politely correcting me on them. Turns out he was one of the bouncers from the Double Deuce itself Travis McKenna that played the bouncer Jack. This week I am talking with Travis on his wonderful career he has had and talk all about his ups and downs in the business.  He was in Road House, Batman Returns, Van Wilder & more and on such great TV shows as Coach Chicago Hope, ER and more! So sit back and listen up, Travis has a lot of great stories to tell! After listening please leave a rating and a review

"All you have to do is follow three simple rules. One, never underestimate your opponent. Expect the unexpected. Two, take it outside. Never start anything inside the bar unless it's absolutely necessary. And three, be nice."

Words of wisdom from Dalton as we go over his great hit Road House, this movie didn't do the greatest at the box office but it became a classic and fan favorite to a lot of people over the years. Great cast with Patrick Swayze, Sam Elliott, Ben Gazarra, Kelly Lynch and many others so sit back and enjoy the talk we had as co host this week Ray Franklin and I geek out over Road House.

If you haven't followed the show yet then please do and once you have listened leave a rating and review on iTunes and/or Spotify and help the show break into the ratings and when you have a moment participate in the poll and weekly question.

In 2001, director Peter Jackson brought to the big screen the world that J.R.R. Tolkien created in his books of The Hobbit & Lord of The Rings. It was a movie with tremendous scenery, great ensemble cast and unbelievable effects to bring to life one of the greatest stories ever written. An epic adventure of 2 hobbits taking on the task of returning the  ring of power to where it was created so they could destroy it before the dark lord Sauron could come back to power. Fights, wars, adventure with just enough touch of everyday humor take us through the journey as we watch the first volume of The Lord of The Rings. The episode runs long today but I don't think I could ever get any movie of The Lord of The Rings in under an hour with there being so much to talk about. :)

A team of special force ops, led by a tough but fair soldier, Major "Dutch" Schaefer, are ordered to assist CIA man, Colonel Al Dillon, on a rescue mission for potential survivors of a Helicopter downed over remote South American jungle. Not long after they land, Dutch and his team discover that they have been sent in under false pretenses. This deception turns out to be the least of their worries though, when they find themselves being methodically hunted by something not of this world.

After a few weeks of being down with the holidays, I am back! I hope that everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years but now it's time to get back to work. For the first episode of 2023 I am doing a review of the podcast from 2022. I have taken bits of interviews and parts from other shows during the year that I liked and have revisited that and talk about each bit for a couple of minutes.

Thank you to all that have been listening and supporting the show! If you haven't yet, follow the show and leave us a 5 star rating and review and if you would like to help make the show better there is a place where you can make donations and help improve the show or go towards getting people on the show to talk with.

Today we are remembering Chris Farley and his life as a comedian and actor. His SNL skits will forever play in our minds and remind us of how great he was and how funny he could be. His movies were so much fun like Beverly Hills Ninja, Black Sheep and obviously Tommy Boy. Whether he is paired up against Patrick Swayze in a Chippendale dancer audition or he is roaming the country pushing brake sales for Callahan Auto Factory, he is keeping us laughing.   Chris Farley died at age 32 of a drug overdose just like his idol John Belushi. He was taken way too soon but his lifestyle was not meant for longevity. I sometimes wonder how great he could have been if he had just beat the addictions he had in life. I hope you enjoy the espisode.

A lot of us grew up watching a smaller territory wrestling organization along with the big ones like WWF & WCW & AWA. We enjoyed great television shows with bookings that led you week to week in a story that you always wanted to see played out. We got to see live shows that meant something and we had development talent to fight against the bug guys each week building up tp the main event. Then PPV came along and changed everything for everybody wrestling fan related. Was it for the better or worse? Let us know what you think!

All that Neal Page wants to do is to get home for Thanksgiving. His flight has been cancelled due to bad weather, so he decides on other means of transport. As well as bad luck, Neal is blessed with the presence of Del Griffith, shower curtain ring salesman and all-around blabbermouth who is never short of advice, conversation, bad jokes, or company. Today we talk about the John Hughes great film from 1987, Planes, Trains & Automobiles.

If you will, give us a follow and when you listen to the show, give us a 5 star rating and a review as it helps me hreatly in the rankings!

We all had our favorite action stars in the 80's and the yall did their version of war movies it seemed and some focused on Vietnam. We had Chuck Norris doing Braddock, Arnold Schwarzenegger doing John Matrix in Commando but then we had the one unique one man army that Stallone did known as John Rambo. Overall he did five Rambo movies but we will talk the first three mostly. In the first he was fighting for himself, in the 2nd installment he goes back into action for his country to help locate American POW's in Vietnam, and in the 3rd one he is back in action to help rescue his friend and mentor Colonel Sam Trautmen. He feels no pain, has no weakness, and for me, he is the greatest Character that Stallone did in the 80's!  Don't hate me Rocky fans!!!!!  I love Rocky as well but Rambo is just a bad man!  I know the episode is long but if you love Rambo you will love the show, and after you listen please leave a rating and a review! Follow/subscribe and share to your friends!

Thanks to John Carpenter teaming up up with Kurt Russell yet again, cause if he had not done this back in 1986 then we may not have the great 80's film Big Trouble in Little China!!! I often look back on my favorites in that decade and this is really one of the movies that I would have to have and not live without. Kurt Russell & Kim Cattrall have such great chemistry  together and what more could you ask for in a movie? It has a karate gang fight in a busy alley way, comedy, more action, romance, adventure and more. If you enjoy the podcast then please leave a rating and a review and give us a follow. Enjoy the show!
