    A girl in her night clothes runs out to encounter Nick Carter. She shows him the scene of her brutally murdered uncle. The first assessment is that it’s a simple suicide, but the girl insists something else is afoot. Handwriting evidence seems to support her claims.
    Posing as a reporter, Nick learns details from Sara, the dead man’s wife. Has an important clue just crossed Nick’s path to link a murder conspiracy together?
    Barney McCoy is a recently released prison convict. Will it do to go to prison undercover to learn about a forged will?
    Now posing as a second story robber, Nick gets inside scoop on Barney, and a dame who marriec some ich guy for his money. So far his evidence is circumstantial, but a rison break may deliver the hard facts on Barney.
    Clues explode to the surface to expose a forged sill, and impoxterx in the family. Armed with facts, Nick formulates a plan to trap his killers.

  • Lum and Abner – Phinus’s Eccentricities. 440518
    The secret of most of the museum pieces has been explained as coming from Abner’s papa. Proud of the postcard he received, , Lum tires of hearing the note from Papa to Sonny. Abner enjoys the thought of his spry papa. Lum expresses his frustrations of having to sit through the tales of the Civil War, cannonball blow by cannonball blow.
    Other eccentric bits of the old timers behavior are shared. One is about a shipment of avocados, bales of lightening rods, all in huge quantities, and more than the folks in town knew what to do with. Wonderful world! Cedric arrives, and Lum wants his help to repack all the trunks they had on display.
    The thing Cedric wants is his $200 investment back from the now defunct treasure company and museum. Can the gents explain how the investment was lost in the expenses? Instead, they tell Cedric it was put into war bonds. Is he going to believe that, or understand the importance of such an investment? Is Phinus already starting to place large orders for the store?

  • Abbott and Costello – Going Back to School. ep89, 450301
    After a slight wardrobe malfunction, and anticipating their guest, Lou breaks out the skinny jokes. Does Lou compare to Sinatra as a singer? What about in the department of style, fashion, or sex appeal to women? A fan club of the bobby socks set is on hand for Frank.
    Connie Haines sings, My Heart Sings. Handlers for Frank begin appearing to be sure he has the right kind of microphone, his nurse takes care of health needs, even telegrams arrive from Sinatra fans to say they’ll be listening. Frank arrives for more thin jokes, and insults from fellow New Jersey boy, Lou. Connie welcomes her old pal Frank. They both sang together with the Tommy Dorsey orchestra. Lou tries to horn in on their reunion date. Frank Sinatra sings, If You Are but a Dream.
    Remembering their old school days, Lou and Frank go into flashback mode. The cast become unruly kids, with Alvea Almon as their teacher. Pranks, mispelled words, and mistaken historical facts lead to breaking new material into the act for Bud and Lou. After more classroom hijinx, predictions are made as to how the class members will come out in later life. Lou helps Frank to sing, One Meatball.

  • Dragnet – Big Partner. ep90, 510301
    Audio is muffled, but OK.
    Robbery Detail. An armed robber is on the loose, and terrorizing the city.
    On the chilly shift on daywatch, Joe Friday joins Ben Romero in their patrol cruiser. The jewelry store owner recounts the details of the armed robber, and his escape. While fleeing, the robber crashed into a truck, and the driver tells it how he saw it. A twist means a suspect is easily picked up. In voiceover, Joe describes background of Nicolai, and his quick escape from his cell.
    The robbery spree continues. Becoming more desperate, Nicolai expands the kind of stores he holds up. Joe goes to do more interviewing of the crime victims. Why didn’t the humble candy store owner reportt his robbery sooner? Joe describes the trail left by Nicolai, and that he has picked up a partner to help him.
    Pressure is on as the territory of the robbers expands. A lucky break comes while staking out a bar. There are 2 partners who are picked up, and they readily offer information on Nicolai. A confrontation, and an explosive end comes in the form of a burst of gun fire and fists.

    It’s all over the newspaper, and newsreels… Send Gracie to Washington! She explains too George why she’s going to run for office. Does she stand a chance of winning, or have any idea of what it takes to qualify as the next president? Frank, Ray, and George discuss job appointments that Gracie promised, as she runs out for a photo shoot. Gracie announces her Surprise party mascot, a kangaroo.
    Frank Parker sings, Yours Is My Heart Alone. Whatt does Gracie know about politics? Her illogical logic makes it all sound good. She explains what her Surprise party platform stands for, and even introduces a campaign song. A publicity agent has plenty of stunts to put Gracie in front of the nation. Mary Kelley gets teased about being the model for the Republican mascot, and various campaign slogans are batted around.
    Ray Nobel plays, The Wood Pecker Song.
    Mary Kelley, also called Bubbles, takes a letter. Gracie is sure to get the votes of her competition, as long as her logic holds up. Reporters are on hand to hear about her campaign promises. How does she stand on current hot button topics of the times? Does she have a plan to bring back prosperity, or recognize Russia? What about the national debt?
    To wrap up, Gracie sings, My Chihuahua.

  • Lum and Abner – Abner’s Papa Is Coming For A Visit. 440517
    The grand opening of the museum is arriving, and Abner discusses the elaborate refreshments with Cedric. He also reveals to Cedric that he discovered yesterday that he was a king. Will he make Cedric call him your highness, and all kinds of royal titles?
    Time to open the doors to let the crowds in, but where is Lum? Abner pins a ribbon on Cedric to identify him as a museum official, and not one of the customers. In the nick of time, Lum races in to stop him from opening the doors quite yet.
    The secret of the photo, and other arrivals of treasures is revealed. It’s all personal affects of Abner’s papa. The old timer is planning to visit, and has sent his trunks ahead from Tennessee. Most of their museum pieces is just his clothes and things. Now, how will the gents face the disappointments of the thronging crowds? Is there a way to save face, and still close this chapter with grace?

  • The Whistler – The Penalty. ep46, 430328
    Alan Harper is a man with troubles. A wealthy man comes to him to draw up a will, despite having the best attorneys on staff. The will revokes his daughter’s inheritance, and a letter clears up a matter with his long lost brother in Australia. Is Mr Blake afraid he will be murdered?
    Anita discusses her uncle Hillary with her fiancé, Wilbur. Has the uncle made his fortunes out of country? When Mr Blake disappears, the idea of kidnap or suicide emerges. Harper enters to break the news of the changes to the will. The letter reveals a source of bitterness, and a last act to make restitution with the estranged twin brother.
    Everyone has bought off on the idea of a suicide, all but Wilbur. Days pass, and the body is finally recovered. Is it possible there was a switch with the brothers? Investigation into the forged signature and letter explodes in the press. The real crime comes to light, but wait. The Whistler still knows more details for a final twist.

  • Fibber McGee and Molly – Fibber Is Catching Cold. ep237, 400227
    Billy Mills and the orchestra open with, Louisiana Hayride.
    Fibber accuses Molly for the lack of buttons on his shirt. In the need of thread, she convinces him to go with her to the store. Along the way they comment on Mrs Gildersleeve, Molly’s new fur coat, then stop to talk with Abigail Uppington. The catty remarks come out over the style and fashion of the old gals.
    Is Fibber catching a cold, as Gildersleeve enters the scene? The insults fly fast and furious, then Dapper Diaper McGee brags about his childhood.
    Harlowe Wilcox does some hard selling of the sponsor product.
    His cold persists when Teeny shows up. She tells about her dog that has a cold too. Is it really a poinsettia? Will she squeeze a paying job out of Fibber? Harlowe is back to put a twist on his soft sale pitch of the sponsor, and keep Fibbers cold under wraps, at least for the moment. Boomer is next, and has an old family remedy for colds… as long as he can find it among the other items in his pockets. The Kingsmen sing their arrangement of, Lazy Rose of the Rio Grande.
    On the way to see the doctor, the McGee’s run into Nick Dipopolus instead. The Greek tells about twins in his family. How does a Greek steam bath differ from a Turkish bath, and will it help a cold? Doctor Cyclops tells about a couple trouble patients, seems to have a thing with his secretary, then examines Fibber. Is he healed?
    Note: The doctor is played by Gale Gordon.

    Meredith tells about seeing Groucho perform in his hometown, Mason City, Iowa. David Brown, Frank Lovejoy, and John Agar, perform a scene from their film Breakthrough. Following a military unit from training to France on D-Day. Men and the toughness it takes to win battles. Groucho is still joking about the nonexistent, and fictional sponsor, Plebo.
    Anzio Pinia joins Talulah for some joking about his film with Lana Turner. Anzio sings, September Song. What will Anzio think about Groucho? Baby Snooks and Hanley Stafford tour the studio. They are to be contestants on Groucho’s quiz show. First, Snooks does some verbal sparring with Talulah, and the gals discuss beauty tips.
    Groucho returns and sings, Some Enchanted Evening, complete with comic asides. Talulah takes part in performing a dramatic scene from, Sentiments. The lovesick dame pines over her lost love. Jane Powell sings, It’s a Most Unusual Day.
    In a spoof of his quiz show, You Bet Your Life, Groucho takes on Baby Snooks and Hanley Stafford. In the typical fashion of getting to know his contestants, Groucho gets a rise out of daddy Higggins. The game begins with the category of Presidents of the USA, and Snooks gets the better of the betting to raise their money as high as she can. Meredith and Talulah get their chance to compete as well. After being teased a bout her film career, the topic for Talulah is first names of movie stars. Jane Powell and Anzio Pinza team up. Groucho learns about the 19 year old Jane, and pokes fun at Anzio’s background. There’s time for the singers to show off their musical chops as they answer the topic.
    Talulah gets one final round of teasing from Groucho, and sings us out.
