    With the issues with the owl behind them, the gents get ready for their grand opening of the museum. More good news arrives, with more arrivals of treasures. What new goodies have arrived to supplement their museum pieces?
    What makes Abner wonder if he had died? Is it possible that he’s a king and doesn’t know it? An old photograph of him is included among the new shipment. Is it really him, or is it just an eerie resemblance to a king he has in his family lineage?
    Lum thinks Abner is too short to be a king, being much less than king sized. Not having any of it, Abner insists on being announced as King Peahbody at the grand opening. Lizabeth phones, and wants her king to get his royal carcase home.

  • Jack Benny – , 400225 Birthday Party for Jack Who’s Recovering from a Skiing Accident. ep363
    After the previous 3 episodes, which take place in flashback over a span of a few days, fast forwards to Jack recovering in his hotel room, and Rochester reading him a comic book. It’s also his birthday, and Mary Livingstone enters to bring him a present. Don and Dennis bring birthday greetings. How has Jack been keeping busy, and how much money does he owe Rochester? Dennis Day sings, On the Isle of Men.
    After Don works out a problem with his commercial, Dr Frank Nelson arrives to check on everyone… except Jack. Nurse Mary Kelley arrives from the slopes, still in her ski’s. Phil adds to the birthday humor. Will Jack be healthy enough to go home? As the cast get ready to settle accounts, Jack is upset over the bill, and a telegram from Fred Allen has birthday greetings. Phil Harris plays a jazzy tune to transition.
    Rochester has squared up on the doctor bill, and came out ahead. A singing telegram from Jack’s dad wishes him a happy birthday. The lingering, extended greeting finally ends, and Jack is ready to head home in the Maxwell.

  • Phil Harris – Phil’s Golf Game. ep169, 510225
    Phil brags about his recent championship golf game, but his girls have heard enough about it In his exuberance, he breaks a vase, which gets him in trouble le with Alice. Will Frankie be a loyal friend and support Phil’s golfing story? Alice sings, I Hear Singing.
    Still without a sponsor, Phil has the chance to play golf with Mr Scot. If things go the right way, will he pick up Phil’s option for a new season? Can Alice, or Frankie add anything to convince the sponsor to renew the show? Sure of a win, Frankie wants in on the betting action, as long as Mr Scot will take his personal check. Phil sings, Fried Chicken Boogie.
    Mr Scot wants the game on his terms, which means he picks the course, the caddy, and he wins. Reluctantly, Phil decides to throw the game, but Remley has brought in his own scorekeeper, Grogan. Alice and Willie tag along where there may not be much game action going on, just a lot of jokes flying. In the end, Grogan ensures that Phil wins, but Mr Scot may still extend hope for our heroes.
    Note: Phil mentions Eddy Peabody. He was a well known banjo player. In real life, Phil really was a good golfer, and hung out with Bing Crosby and others on the golf course.

  • Sherlock Holmes – The Second Generation. ep194, 451217
    Long time friends share a moment as Holmes plays a haunting melody on his violin. Active practice of detective work is well behind them, but Watson wonders if Holmes ever thinks of pursuing cases again. Preposterous! But you know what that means… a case is about to be laid in their laps.
    The daughter of “the Woman” has brought a case to the great detective. She is being blackmailed by Mr Stanley, who has incriminating letters. They stand to impact her impending wedding if they become known. Will Sherlock go as far as use his unconventional methods to steal the letters? Disguises are donned, and the old sleuths prepare to get to work.
    Posing as priests who are raising money for charity, Holmes and Watson get their foot in the door, but has a trap been laid for the detectives? There’s still a trick up the aging sleeve of Sherlock. But are the letters non-existent? What is really in the filigree box, and will Sherlock’s turn about be what it takes to warn the girl from a life of crime like her mother had taken? Or has Sherlock once again been duped by a woman?
    PS: for those who missed the previous episode, or know nothing of the classic tales written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, “The Woman” is how Holmes refers to an arch nemesis, Irenie Adler. The one woman who outsmarted him, and got away.

  • Wild Bill Hickock – The Mark Of The Claw. ep98, 521022
    It took the whole tribe to catch them, but Jingles worries what the Indians will do with them now that he and Bill are tied up, and held captive. They watch as the medicine man leads the council in a pow wow. Little Cloud sneaks through the darkness to set Bill free, after a favor was done for his father years ago. His kindness may have cost him his life, as Bill and Jingles escapes.
    Racing through the night, Bill and Jingles live to see daylight, led by their young guide, Big Bear. Time to clear up some of their mystery.
    Eagles, totem poles, and a chief named Putonka. He would have made friends with the white man, but others around him were misled by gun runners. What’s the power of the mark of the claw? Will it be the good medicine to settle the braves who are on the war path? Confronting the gun runners who sell guns to all sides, Bill gets the upper hand with a quick fist fight. The thing to do is return to the Indians who held them captive, to try to talk sense to them.
    Danger explodes, but more for the gun runners. What will happen if the Indians get a hold of him? Would it be better than being turned over to the law? As justice is dealt, Jingles leads in getting the drums started for a victory dance.

  • Lum and Abner – A Visit To Lum. 440515
    Guarding the store, Lum and Abner took up baseball bats, and arms to protect their owl from intruders. In the morning Abner tells grandpap about his accident of hitting Lum with his baseball bat. Lum doesn’t know who hit him, and Abner tells how he had Mousey’s help to carry their unconscious friend to the feed room to rest.
    Checking on Lum, Abner and grandpap hear the story from Lum’s perspective. Feeling like he’s about to die, Lum needs Abner to tell him how many guys jumped on him. He must have been hit with an anvil. Why didn’t the gang hit Abner? Did Abner get in any good licks?
    Lum still feels like he could die, and demands to get doc Miller to examine him. He feels like Abner doesn’t care, not phoning the doc sooner, and mistaking the brush offs about identifying any gang members for apathy. Just what would Lum do to his pal if he learned who really slugged him? Good thing doc Miller is on the way now.
    Notable Quote: Lum. if I ever meet the guy, I’m gonna make hash meat outta him.

  • Whitehall 1212 – Case of Mrs Minerva Bannamon. ep21, 520420
    A 68 year old widow left on an errand, and was never seen again. This is the story of the trail the police took to bring justice. Claims were made that she was investing money, but the Scotland Yard inspectors aren’t going for it. Were there other valuables as a motive for a crime? Who may have had the opportunity? Witnesses turn up a suspect, and a criminal record is found.
    A female detective sergeant is instrumental in moving the investigation along. Will Hughes prove just to be a petty thief and liar? Or is there enough on him to pursue for murder?
    Though he is smug enough in a string of lies, evidence begins to show up to tie the woman’s personal belongings to him. Forensic findings from the crime lab only dig the hole deeper for Hughes. Will his confession to not just one, but to four murders put him in position for a trip to the looney bin? Hughes may think so, but the inspector has a different outcome of justice.

  • Richard Diamond – Lady In Distress. ep86, 510223
    On the outs with his best gal Hellen, and in need of cash after losing money on the horses, Richard needs a client. The hot, weeping woman who enters his office may not get him any points with Hellen, but she’s just the ticket to pay his bills. Richard is soon tracking down a mystery woman, and along his way he discovers a mink coat with a pistol inside. When a body is found, the heat is turned up but the search only gets more tedious in its dead ends. More bodies pile up, and Richard goes to learn what he can from his police detective friend, Walt.
    How did the weapon owned by the dead woman, and found on her person, manage to kill the other body after she was murdered? Richard is sure there’s a double cross going on, and heads to see a sultry dame. Besides more dead ends, it only wins the hard boiled detective a thump on the head.

    Will he get the message that somebody wants him to mind his own business?
    Waking up to face Walt, Richard learns the key clues he needs to wrap up this case. A counterfeiting operation is exposed, but the bad guys aren’t going down without gun play. Walt plays the cop role and tends to the crime scene, while Richard leaves to take down the brains behind the outfit who just got away. Not a lot of surprises about who it is, but listen in to see how Richard puts the pieces to the mtystery together.

  • Lum and Abner – Is The Owl Alive. 440511
    For the third time now, someone has entered the store and moved the stuffed owl. Today, Abner tells grandpap about the mystery, and the desperate measures the gents plan to take. Is there a gang of varmints? Is there real danger of a bomb, or other sabotage? Grandpap uses the busy life as being the sole telegram delivery boy as his excuse for not getting involved.
    The idea is introduced that the owl might actually be alive, and not stuffed. Has anybody seen any sawdust? Owls are known for perching motionless for long periods. To add to his busy day, grandpap has to rush off to the barber shop. Its the day when the new police gazette is delivered, and he needs to read it.
    Lum is suspicious of grandpap’s presence, and wants to keep the inner workings of the museum close to the vest. Especially the trouble with the moving owls. Is grandpap’s idea of a living owl foolish and childish? If the gents hoot at the owl, it’ll prove it is stuffed… right?
    note: Grandpap. in the daytime, owls are as blind as a bow legged bat.

  • The Whistler – Fool’s Gold. ep41, 430221
    Herbert Lang, bank clerk, and one with plenty of time on his hands to calculate how to overcome his low paying job. Over worked, and overdue for a vacation, the mild mannered man knows its time to spring his plan. It may even be time to propose to his girlfriend, Hazel.
    Though his boss has complete trust in him, the board of directors refuses to give Herbert a raise. Instead, he is to be retired, given a bonus, and only two weeks notice. Can Herbert reach his goal before then, and retire on his own terms?
    Suddenly, Hazel sees through Herbert’s plan. He has been embezzling money, not investing in stocks. Will she refuse to marry him, and go as far as turn him in? On the cruise out of the country, Herbert is unsettled by his troubles. When Hazel ends up overboard, Herbert has some explaining to do. Has Herbert gotten away to his South American port? A little paranoia, and guilty conscious goes a long way for the kind of justice the Whistler is glad to dish out.
