Do we trust the Holy Spirit? If so, why do we want to do His work for Him? As Barry Phillips and David Jones explain, we tend to do that when we try to correct others in ways that seem good to us, but might not be what our Heavenly Father prefers.

What does it mean to produce fruits worthy of repentance? What happens if we don't produce fruit like that? Do we stay on God's angry list until we do? These are questions David Jones and Barry Phillips investigate in this conversation.

Christians owe a debt to Jews. The knowledge we have of God has come through them. That's why heroes of the faith like Dietrich Bonhoeffer did what they did to protect Jews and oppose those who sought their destruction. That is the topic of discussion in this concluding part of our conversation with David Altman.
It is the Jews who gave the Torah to the world. That's a good thing since the Torah contains the teachings, instructions, and commands of God. Why, then, do Christians regard the Torah as a strange and burdensome thing? That's one of the questions David Jones and Barry Phillips explore in their midrash, "Keeping ALL Commands." But honoring Torah is actually obeying our God, which is an expression of our relationship with Him. That's one of the messages we hear in the music of Teshuva.

The first step in justifying opposition to and even oppression of a group of people is to dehumanize them. That can be a subtle, even deceptive, process, camouflaged with good intentions and gentle words, but the result is the same as virulent propaganda. As David Altman explains in this third part of our conversation, that is the pattern of Jew hatred over the centuries – even within the church in all its forms.
At its root, hatred of Jewish people and the nation of Israel is a spiritual issue. That’s why it’s wise to understand how to walk in the Spirit. That’s the topic of “Spiritually Minded,” the latest midrash by David Jones and Barry Phillips. To be spiritually minded, we have to turn away from the world and our flesh and toward God, which is the message Mason Clover and Laura Metzing share in their music.

What exactly is the “spirit of Amalek” and how is it different from the “spirit of Jeroboam”? As David Altman explains in this second part of our four-part conversation, both can manifest in Jew hatred, but there is a significant difference in the origin and intention of each. Not surprisingly, elements of Amalek and Jeroboam have manifested in the history of the church, leading to considerable tragedy in Christian-Jewish relations.
Is there a way around this enmity between Christians and Jews, the two halves of God’s Covenant People of Israel? Yes, but it requires humility, repentance, and a return to God’s standards of righteousness. That’s what David Jones and Barry Phillips talk about in their midrash, “Men As Trees,” and what we hear in the music of Teshuva and the Exodus Road Band.

Why do the Jewish people generate such opposition? From mild bias to vicious hatred, Jews have been the targets of animosity from ancient times. Now, when the Jewish State of Israel is asserting itself among the nations, hatred of Jews has multiplied around the world. Why is that?
David Altman addresses that question in this four-part conversation. As he explains, this is a spiritual issue, and it is rooted in the sibling rivalries that have plagued Abraham's family from the start.
It takes courage to go against the majority regarding issues like antisemitism. That, too, is a spiritual issue, as we learn in the midrash by David Jones and Barry Phillips called "Stand Alone When Necessary." As Wilderness Cry explains in their musical offerings, it's really a matter of how connected we are to our Creator.

How bad do things have to get before we admit we need help? That's the question David Jones and Barry Phillips investigate in this conversation about pride, humility, and spiritual amateurs.

In Zechariah 12 we read that God will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all the nations. That’s a word about judgment. When we remember that judgment begins with the household of God (1 Peter 4:17), maybe we should connect the dots and consider whether His judgment of His people starts with our attitude toward the land and people of Israel. Specifically, it may be that the question God is placing before the body of Messiah and the world in general is what we think of the Jewish people.
Laura Densmore of Bridge Connector Ministries has a lot to say about this issue. She recently wrote an article called “Breaking the Silence – Stepping Away from Fallen Heroes Who Attack Jews” in which she points out an alarming thread of Jew hatred among conservative influencers, Christian leaders, and Hebrew Roots teachers. In this interview, Laura shares how that anti-Jewish sentiment has impacted her, and how it is a troubling echo of Christian attitudes that have led to horrendous actions against the Jewish people through the centuries.

If someone offends us, should we confront and correct them, or let it pass? What if the offense is because of sin? How do we confront and offer correction without breaking the relationship? There are some guidelines from God's word, as David Jones and Barry Phillips discuss.
