I don't know why -- actually I do, but I don't understand the complacency with mediocrity. The past four years I have been an active member of the US Skeleton team, but I have also been on the sidelines watching our "progression"... The issues come from both sides, staff and athletes. What is confusing is the over arching goal would give off the appearance that we as a federation have the potential for greatness however we retain and cater to below average performances. 

Professional sport is a business. If you don't perform or meet the minimum standards there isn't a place for you. 

Stop complaining and get to work.

I have been marinating on speaking about my skeleton career/life because I wasn’t sure if I needed separation... well skeleton is my life right now and will be for the next few years so- it’s here to stay! 

Today we’re addressing the Federation and it’s inability to learn from years and years of requesting better communication. At this point it's intentional. They have no plans of changing. They have no plans of being or doing better, so we should just accept it. ABSOLUTELY NOT! It baffles me the number of requests and complaints regarding the lack of communication, but there is zero improvement (doing it once is not improvement). 

There are so many athletes who have come and gone from this program for decades who are mere phantom memories of senior sliders who come from that era. The lack of acknowledgement for participation, contribution or feats is beyond embarrassing. 

The athletes of the USA program constantly pour their livelihoods into this team just to be disrespected by a Federation who can't grant them the bare minimum of communicating plans much less validating their time in the sport. 

The ongoing struggle with societal beauty standards has been exhausting. The amount of bullying WOC and young girls have received simply for how they look (something they have absolutely no control over), yet a white woman can go and alter her body to have those exact features and claim them as natural. It’s not a double standard, it’s blatant hatred at this point.

I didn’t even get to the meat of it, but tune into the next episode about Racial Ambiguity...

It's the latter part of 2021 and there seems to be a growing virtual presence of Book Readers and we love to see it! But it wasn't always like that. We all can think back to grade school where the 'required reading' was anything but fun. Grade school nearly killed the love of reading-even for book worms. Then at some point in time, as we grew up the only acceptable reading was: Self Help, Entrepreneurship, Business, Biographies, etc. Seeing or hearing about an adult reading fantasy or fiction was frowned upon. Why? Why has society placed age restrictions on genres? Why is it not ok to read what you want to read?? Who authorized the non-readers to police Bookers on the material they choose to read?

Well here, we're gonna celebrate reading in all it's forms from whatever genre you choose!

Let's cut to the chase, society has created a safe haven for "men" to exist in a space unchallenged and uncontested. So obviously when women call BS or want to be treated differently, men get up in arms about "women being too emotional". How fascinating that men are expected to be dominate and catered to, yet women are expected to simply comply without a peep...? Fat chance.

Let's start the conversation about toxic & fragile masculinity as it coincides with internalized misogyny, and why this ideology needs to be addressed head on. Let's make men uncomfortable:)
