We’re excited to welcome Todd Hasak-Lowy back to the show. There was an amazing Netflix documentary called “Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution” that aired right around the time the pandemic hit, and many people, including us, missed out on seeing or hearing about it because of that event. Thankfully, Todd let us know about it, we’ve watched it, and now we’re all going to be sharing our thoughts on its relevance today and why you just might want to watch it, too!

Todd Hasak-Lowy is an author and Professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  He lives in Evanston, Illinois (just outside Chicago), with his wife, two daughters, a dog, and two cats.

His latest book for the younger crowd is We Are Power: How Nonviolent Activism Changes the World.

• Access to education is not a new issue; it has been an ongoing struggle.
• Todd shares the premise of the movie, Crip Camp, wherein teens with disabilities at a camp in the mid-70s are provided filming equipment. This leads them to become activists for the disability rights movement, and the movie follows their fight for accessibility and inclusion.
