In this podcast episode, authors Miss Catherine M.H. and V.E. Griffith host guest Sacha Black, a UK-based author known for her non-fiction work and a new series of lesbian sapphic fantasy romances under the pen name Ruby Roe. The conversation focuses on Sacha's writing and editing process, which she distinguishes between fiction and non-fiction. For her fiction work, Sacha adopts a fast-drafting method, then performs a substantive edit addressing story structure, characters, pacing, and prose. For non-fiction, Sacha writes in non-sequential chunks that are later structured, followed by substantive editing and proofreading. Both processes are accelerated by her competitive nature, with her writing speed increasing significantly when writing alongside others.
