Jesus’ purpose for coming to earth was to redeem fallen man back to God.  The cost for Jesus to buy your redemption from sin and death was His own precious, sinless blood shed on the cross.  Your salvation is something you could never purchase for yourself.  And because you are redeemed, Pastor John explains today that you can now live a holy life.  In all you do in life, live for the glory of God in response to His incredible gift of redemption.  Serve Him, worship Him and give Him your whole self!

There may come a time in your life of faith and service when you fail God.  Sin and temptation or disobedience and pride may cause your fall.  And the temptation may be to believe you can no longer walk faithfully or serve the Lord anymore.  But, as Pastor John teaches today, this is not the case!  Peter failed Jesus in a big way.  But Jesus restored him and gave him a great commission.  The Lord can and will use you in great ways if you confess and come to Him with a humble and repentant heart!

It’s so easy to get into a rhythm of service to God where you make all the decisions.  But, as Pastor John explains today, it’s important to instead serve God as HE directs you to.  You must be led by God to do what He wants from you.  When you get ahead of Him, your service isn’t as fully empowered and fruitful as when you walk in synch with Him.  So, as you seek to serve Him, take the time to pray and listen to Him thoughtfully. After His crucifixion and resurrection, Jesus returned to His disciples.  They never understood His true mission and tried to force His earthly reign, and more than that, they abandoned Him.  You would think Jesus wouldn’t continue to use these men in building His church.  But, as Pastor John teaches today, Jesus uses ordinary, flawed men and women to accomplish His mission.  That’s good news for all of us!  God uses the weak and broken so that He gets the glory, and you are made more like Him.

“Maybe His disciples stole the body,” the religious leaders declared, hopeful.  But for that foolish theory to work would’ve required quite a few miracles – their ability to overtake strong Roman guards and the strength to roll back the heavy stone, for example.   Today, Pastor John will explain the truth of the empty grave.  The roman guards fell over in terror at the empty grave and the angels declaring He’d risen.  His followers saw the tomb empty.  They believed so wholeheartedly that they were willing to die defending the empty grave.

Some opponents of Jesus thought that by killing Him, the problem would be solved.  He’d be gone, and their religious system would remain intact.  And when the tomb was discovered empty, they came up with every foolish excuse to again try to stop the problem of Jesus.  One idea was that Jesus wasn’t actually dead.  He had just passed out.  Today, Pastor John will explain the nonsense that these theories promote.  The Roman guards, who had supervised many crucifixions, verified and declared Him dead.

It’s impossible to imagine the pain and agony of dying on a cross.  It was deemed the most torturous way to die possible.  Yet, even while he was suffering, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, Jesus’ heart was still one of love, care, and concern for others.  As Pastor John teaches today, Jesus’ last words on the cross demonstrate to the world that he loved until His last breath.  He showed such love and mercy even toward those nailing Him upon the cross and hurling insults on Him.
