False teaching in the early Christian church was creeping in and was beginning to persuade the believers that faith in Christ also needed all the beliefs and rituals of the Jewish faith.  However, as Pastor John teaches today, this slavery to the law and religion doesn’t save.  Only faith in the cross of Christ will save you.  His sacrifice brings you back into peace with God and gives you forgiveness.  Christ’s voluntary death on the cross is sufficient for all your needs, including salvation and eternal life with God.

It could appear to a casual reader that the suffering and death of Jesus was a surprise defeat for God.  Yet, as Pastor John teaches today, the death of Jesus was planned and determined by God from the beginning of time.  Nothing about Jesus’ life, teaching, death, or resurrection surprised God.  He did not lose the battle to Satan at the cross.  Christ was God’s plan for the salvation of man.  God saves sinners through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross so that He gets all glory, honor, and praise.

Sometimes, when God feels distant or times are rough, people question if God even loves them.
