While praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prayed for the cup of wrath to be taken away from him.   He knew the mockery, pain, and the long slow death he was about to experience.  But everything he’d have to suffer that day would be far better than being separated from his Father. Pastor John explains today that he’d existed with God from eternity as God. And for a time, the Father had to turn his back on his son.  Jesus carried all the sins of all humanity on himself.  And Holy, Almighty God couldn’t look upon him until it was over.
