Daniel, even in his very old age, continued to worship and serve God.  He was incredibly faithful and devoted even amidst the pagan culture he lived in.  He was greatly distressed by the Israelites lack of passion for God and their indifference to their exile.  So, in his burden, he prayed for God’s people.  Today, Pastor John encourages you, like Daniel, to reach out to God in your great distress.  Seek him in prayer.  Instead of fretting, planning, or ignoring your problems, seek God’s will first.

There’s a push in some super religious circles to thrust forward with their incredible strength, spiritualizing the world in order to usher in God’s second coming.  But, as Pastor John explains today, although God’s people will receive the kingdom, it will happen when God determines.  Humans’ effort to hurry him along won’t prompt him to change his timetable.  Jesus will return.  It could be tomorrow or in a thousand years.  And at that point, believers will reign forever with him.

Humans are impressed with the money, power, and convincing words of kings and kingdoms on earth today.  It’s appealing to follow them and hopefully find safety there.  However, as Pastor John explains today, God sees these kingdoms and leaders as weak, insignificant, and temporary.  God is returning to judge all.  He will not share his eternal reign with any kingdom or god.  All who are strong and important in the world will fall and come to nothing.  And God will reign forever on earth again one day.
