Pastor Todd is in a series called "Love Never Lies". He teaches us, "We're talking about the fact that the world would look at Christianity and say, Hey, you guys should be nice and kind and loving and tolerant because that was what Jesus would do."
Pastor Todd takes us back into the scripture to find out what would Jesus actually do. "What we're trying to do is keep Christianity from being passive and tolerant. Because passivity and tolerance is not what Christ is about."
This may be a bumpy ride for some. He is going to talk about the blessings of the Lord but perhaps that doesn't mean exactly what we think it means.
He is teaching us today from the story of Jesus confronting the money changers in the temple. We see Jesus with a whip in His hand overturning tables and scattering coins of money. Does this sound like the kind, tolerant, nice Jesus that the world has stereotyped Him as?
Is Jesus really mad simply because people elected to buy their sacrificial animals at the temple instead of bringing them from home? Is Jesus mad because He doesn't want anything for sale even in the outer courts of the temple?
Pastor Todd explains from scripture that the blessings of God come from obedience. Yet many of the people were disobedient before coming to the temple and still expect the blessings of God. The people do not know their God.
Let's listen in as Pastor Todd reveals the truth about the character of Jesus, our obedience, and about speaking the truth in love.
Please listen to the end for some important information.
