My text for this sermon is found in Genesis 22:1-14.) we read our foundational scriptures at the beginning of our sermon as is usually my custom. These scriptures were Hebrews 11:8,12,17-19. verse 19 of this chapter says that Abraham accounted God was able to raise Isaac up even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.

The word figure in the Greek tongue is (Para-Ballo') para means close beside and ballo means to put or place beside so this Greek word in its construct means a placing beside. The sacrifice of Isaac was and is a series of events that for-shadowed the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. So the heart of the message is like it's title "A Symbolic Sacrifice " the true symbolism behind the sacrifice that God asked Abraham to make of his son his only son who he loved. We too must sacrifice all of our Isaacs so we can see the plan of God come to fruition in our lives. God bless you!
