In this second part of The Christian mini-series, Rev takes a heartfelt look at the anime short film My Last Day, created by The Jesus Film Project. This emotionally charged and beautifully animated retelling of the crucifixion of Jesus is seen through the eyes of a thief facing his own execution—and eternal fate.

Rev breaks down the film’s emotional beats, its unique anime style, and the way it bridges the gap between faith and fandom. But that’s not all—Rev also reads from the Easter story itself, bringing the biblical narrative to life and offering a reflective moment that ties directly into the themes of the film.

How does My Last Day speak to both Christian and anime communities? What makes this short film a standout in the world of faith-based animation? And what can we learn from the perspective of a man who spent his last moments beside Christ?

This episode is a blend of reflection, storytelling, and otaku insight you don’t want to miss.

PLUS – Stick around until the end as Rev announces the winner of the first tier voting in the Anime World Mash-Up! The results are in, and you won’t believe who came out on top.

Welcome to The Christian 3, a special 3-week series where we explore the fascinating and often overlooked world of Christian anime. Kicking things off is a look back at the 1981 classic Superbook – an anime that combined time travel, scripture, and a talking robot to bring Bible stories to life for kids around the world.

This week, Rev reflects not just on the show itself, but on how animation as a whole has shifted morally over the decades—especially in the West. While American animation has often strayed from traditional values, Japanese anime has largely remained grounded in its core moral and cultural convictions, even when tackling spiritual or philosophical themes.

Is Superbook just a relic of the past, or a timeless example of faith-based storytelling done right? We’re digging into the animation, the message, and the legacy of this surprising gem from anime history.
