Podcast Summary – RHOC S19 E17: “A Source of Discontent”

It’s Day 3 in Amsterdam, and while the tulips are blooming, the tension is too.

🌅 Morning Check-ins & Giant Swings

Gretchen’s feeling better, Emily’s in tears over a rough call with Shane, and Gina reminds her she needs self-care too. The ladies split up for activities — Jen, Tamra, Gretchen, and Emily head to the “Lookout Sensational Swing,” where spanks, fear, and shade are flying.

Emily jokes that spanks “just redistribute,” comparing Shannon to a muffin container that pops open. 

Meanwhile, Shannon, Heather, and Gina take a more “spiritual” route: mushroom therapy in a trippy art maze. Shannon hears phantom drums and declares, “This is the Real Housewives music!” The mushrooms have officially hit.

🤝 Tamra & Gretchen’s “Peace Treaty”

After the swing, Gretchen opens up about losing people to cancer and expecting empathy from Tamra because of Teddy. Tamra finally apologizes, Gretchen accepts — and Tamra jokes, “Can we get ChatGPT to make a contract?” (We approve this message.)

💔 Family Reflections & Emotional Releases

Heather and Emily visit Heather’s late father’s old home, where Heather scatters his ashes into the canal, saying goodbye to her grief: “I feel like I’m setting myself free.”
Emily gets emotional about her own childhood — she never had parents to turn to for advice.

🥂 Dinner Disaster: The Spanks Heard ‘Round Amsterdam

At dinner, Shannon confronts the group for making fun of her spanks. Tamra and Emily try to explain it was taken out of context, but Gretchen confirms it did happen. Emily snaps, shouting, “Gretchen, shut up before I effing lose it on you!” Shannon accepts Emily’s apology but leaves for the restroom — with her skirt tag sticking out.

🚴‍♀️ Day 4: Biking, Waffles & Crabs

Tamra gets emotional about her daughter moving to NYC. Heather reveals selling her Beverly Hills house at a loss. Shannon’s got a new man — Troy the Golden Retriever.

💥 The LGBTQ+ Post Scandal

Gina drops a bomb: Gretchen allegedly liked anti-LGBTQ+ posts. Gretchen denies it, claiming she must’ve liked them accidentally. Heather, deeply hurt, reminds everyone she recently hosted an event for The Trevor Project: “Every 45 seconds, someone attempts suicide. Hate rhetoric kills.”

Gretchen calls Slade for backup (never a good sign). He reminds her that Tamra once made a gay slur about his sandals — production flashes the clip. Heather tells Gretchen to prove it wasn’t her account. Gretchen cries, saying, “I don’t even know how to do that.”

✈️ Day 5: Regrets, Receipts & Reversals

On the way to the airport, Gina admits she couldn’t find real proof Gretchen liked the posts — only that she follows those accounts. Emily calls out the hypocrisy: “You can’t destroy someone’s life without knowing for sure.”

Heather feels awful, Gina feels manipulated, and Tamra… just feels “done.”
 Back home, Gretchen is depressed and vowing to clear her name. Slade wants to track down the source.

Then the bomb drops: DMs leak claiming Tamra herself was feeding spoilers to blogs and fan pages — and even plotting to turn the group against Gretchen.

Looks like the source of discontent might not be who everyone thought it was.
