In this podcast episode 52 "The Ministry of Presence," Cherisse and her friend Christie Willumsen, explore the importance of "Being Present": with God, with our friends, and learning how to be present with ourselves too.
Christie, a self proclaimed introvert, steps way out of her comfort zone to be here and share her journey. She shares her story and of how and when her heart was captured by Jesus. We talk Introverts vs Extroverts. We talk raising children and even being a new Grandparent. We talk about the hills and valleys of marriage and how she and Bob have mentored us through the last decade of marriage and truly championed our marriage when we need it most. We talk about Grief, deep grief and how do we walk beside friends in deep seasons of sorrow. How to love them well.
She shares how this season of life has brought about "The Journey Collective" a way for her to love on her friends well through making a beautiful reminder they can see daily to show them their love and value. She shares what she is learning in this process and how these works of art are bringing light and hope out of some dark corners of life.
Chrisite shares the power of being PRESENT with our friends in times of grief and truly how the simple act of showing up for your friends in times or joy and sorrow can be the biggest gift we can offer those we love.
She leaves us with these words:
"It is ok to not be okay. Be willing to be honest with where you are and what you are feeling. Find a trusted person you can be really vulnerable with that will just walk with you as you process and doesn't feel the need to fix you. Have someone that allows you to say the things that you are really thinking especially when you are really struggling with the Lord."

In this episode of "Rhythms That Restore," Cherisse welcomes her long-time friend Whitney Blomberg from Chattanooga, Tn. Whitney shares her deeply personal journey through infertility, motherhood and mental health challenges.
Whitney discusses her struggles with control, multiple miscarriages, and a rare lymphoma diagnosis, emphasizing the importance of surrendering to God's plan.
She highlights the support of friends and community during the deep valleys of life and the power of faith in overcoming obstacles. The conversation also touches on practical tools for managing anxiety and the significance of sharing struggles to foster connection and healing.
Whitney's story inspires listeners to embrace their own journeys with hope and resilience.
"No matter what season you're walking in (motherhood, boss babing, waiting, the hard, the happy, any of it) is that your circumstances don't define your life or your joy. It is possible to find real revival of your heart and your spirit in the very mundance parts of your day. If you are feeling run down or defeated in the trenches with little ones, know that Jesus can inhabit that little bedroom while you sing "Oh How I Love Jesus" before bedtime. If you're young or a student and overwhelmed with future things, know that Jesus is just as real to you during that study session as He was in the Resurrection. If you are in a season of waiting, like we wanted during infertility - you are not forgotten, you are not being punished, He cares for you and He remembers you. No matter what season you are in, Jesus is the eqalizer and He is your joy. "

Allison, is a personal Spiritual Director and she is a co-founder of the Retreat House in Memphis, shares her journey and insights on how to nurture our inner life and care for our souls.
We discuss the significance of the new year as a time for reflection and growth, using winter as a metaphor for our own inner "heart" work.
