Dr. Ben Carson made some comments yesterday about how we decide which medicines we want to use to treat specific ailments. He believes it shouldn't matter who endorses medicine if it works. Rick weighs in with some thoughts of his own. 

Can you imagine learning your baby girl has holes in her heart? That's what happened to the family of Alaina Toplovich. Alaina spent a long time at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh -- and even after they got the first problem fixed, she had to go back years later to have a pacemaker put in.  Today, Alaina is a healthy, vivacious, bubbly 8th grader who loves school, her family and Christmas. Tonight, Alaina will serve as a junior co-host for the 68th Annual Free Care Fund Telethon on KDKA, but not before stopping by The Rick Dayton Show on KDKA Radio.
