Podcast Of The Week : A Journey Through Stock Aitken Waterman
A wonderful podcast that I have only discovered recently (they are up to Episode 18), this explores the phenomenon of producers Stock Aitken Waterman, and their artists from Kylie to Jason, Dead Or Alive, Bananarama etc etc etc. Their mission is to go through every SAW single released, starting with ‘The Upstroke’ in Episode 1, and a thorough, and I mean thorough, exploration of Pepsi and Shirley’s ‘Heartbreak’ in Episode 18. Hosted by Matthew Debby and Gavin Scott, they really know their SAW, the anecdotes are wonderful, particularly for fans (the rest of you may wonder what the fuss is about), but the SAW influence on music in the 80’s was remarkable. Mike Stock’s book The Hit Factory (The SAW Story) is also a good read, but podcasts are so much easier to digest, so I suggest you search them out.
Single Of The Week : Madam & The Mafia with ‘Riding High’. Pulsating song from Alice Springs with a video you have to see to believe, it seems to cover about 90% of the fetishes I know about.
