Welcome to our first two part episode. After researching this case, we decided we needed to spread this over two episodes due to the shear amount of detail and murders by this man in the early 1900's. Listen to part 1 before listening to this episode.
Fritz Haarmann murdered at least 24 young men and boys over the course of six years between 1918-1924. He raped, murdered and dismembered each victim before dumping their bodies mainly in the Leine River, Hanover, Germany. He is arguably one of Germany's worst serial murderers. Join us as we look over his life and the subsequent murders that follow.

On 30th October 1983, 16 year old Colette Aram was walking from her house in Nottinghamshire, the one and a half miles to her boyfriend's house. She didn't make it as she was abducted, raped and strangled by 25 year old Paul Hutchinson. It took 25 years to find Hutchinson and it was thanks to the DNA database that he was found.

Michael Silka was a 25 year old US Army veteran from Illinois who dreamed of living in the wilderness of Alaska. In May 1984, he finally arrived in Alaska at the tiny village of Manley Hot Springs. His visit there ended in a spree killing and a shoot out with Alaska's State Troopers, ending his life and the life of a trooper. This week's is shorter than usual but it's only a small case with limited information. We hope you enjoy!

In February, 1988, 22 year old Helen McCourt from Billinge, Merseyside went missing on her way home from work and was never seen again. It was quickly discovered that local landlord, Ian Simms was the culprit but the police force had the difficult task of proving that Helen was dead AND that Ian Simms had killed her. Using the new technique at the time of familial DNA, they were able to gather enough evidence to convict Simms. Helen's mother, Marie McCourt still fights for the rights of missing-murdered victims families to be able to have a funeral with the nationally known, Helen's Law.
Thank you to Rebecca on our Facebook group for the recommendation!

Andrea Yates is a Texan woman who killed all five of her children by drowning them in the bath. She was suffering from severe postnatal psychosis but continued to have children, going against her doctors advice. Due to limited support from her husband, family and medical professionals, she did the worst thing a mother could do.

Sophie Lancaster was a 20 year old woman from Bacup, Lancashire who was murdered for being different. Sophie and her boyfriend, Robert Maltby were walking through a park on their way home late one in evening in August 2007 when they were both brutally attacked by a gang of teenage youths. During this weeks case, we discuss the issues we had during our teenage years for dressing similarly to Sophie and Rob and why this case was a difficult one for us to cover.
Apologies for the delay this week. Amy had changes in her work commitments and we couldn't record until Wednesday evening. We will be back to our regular schedule next week.

In 2013, 17 year old Kendrick Johnson was found dead inside a rolled up wrestling mat at his high school gym in Valdosta, Georgia. The county sheriff's office investigated and came to the conclusion that it was a tragic accident. KJ's family however believe he was murdered and many of the town's officials are covering it up. We do our best in this episode to look at both sides of the story and hopefully we did a half decent job!
