Learn about the life and struggles of the amazing Guatemalan activist Rigoberta Menchú and learn advanced Spanish at the same time!
Rigoberta Menchú is someone who deserves more attention. Of Mayan descent, she had an incredibly tough start to life, with many of her family members murdered in horrific genocides by the Guatemalan military against the indigenous population.
Despite the risks, she continued to fight for the rights of indigenous people around the world, particularly those from her country and women, who she saw as some of the greatest victims.
Due to this work and particularly her testimonial biography "I, Rigoberta Menchú", released in 1983, she received the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of just 33, becoming one of the youngest Nobel Laureates.
I hope this Spanish biography is interesting while helping you with your Spanish learning!
