Rik Carpenter Children's Author

Stinky and his mate is about a swarm of flies that try to survive a dangerous journey through a neighbourhood, and the bizarre and fantastical characters they meet along the way...like the fortune telling spider, the bearded lady and an amazing kaleidoscopic butterfly. Stinky and his mate is written for 7-11 year olds and is the first in a series of creepy crawly stories that cover a range of topics such as equality, diversity, disability, bullying, and a range of other important issues that children face when growing up. During author visits children soon realise that insects' have a lot in common with humans... they are different colours, shapes and sizes, they behave differently, eat different things, and just like us... they have a massive impact on the environment too.
