Today’s episode was recorded live, December 9th, in New York City at the inaugural RIMS Risktech Forum 2019! It was a terrific event with more than 170 registrants. Throughout the course of the event, a story was told through the sessions about the present and future states of the industry. And that is, that it’s undeniable that risk tech is vital to the future of the profession.

Today’s guest is Ron Ross, a NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) Fellow. He’s also the Project Leader for the FISMA Implementation Project, the Joint Task Force Transformation Initiative, and the Systems Security Engineering Initiative.

In this episode, Ron and Justin will be taking a look at cybersecurity frameworks and how they can be applied to your risk management programs or ERM programs. Ron has lots of great insight on this topic so be sure to tune in!

In this episode, Justin and Dr. Siegel will be talking about terrorism risks, how terrorism threats have evolved since 9/11, terror and violence threats specific to the holidays, and how an organization can prepare for these risks during the holidays. Dr. Siegel also gives an overview of the new, updated Department of Homeland Security Strategic Framework for Countering Terrorism and Targeted Violence.

In this episode, Justin and Dr. Siegel will be talking about domestic terror risks, how he has advised houses of worship and other entities, and how organizations can and should build terrorism risk into their violence preparedness plans.

Today on the podcast, Justin is joined by Whitney Craig, RIMS Government Relations Director, to discuss government affairs and review the recent Legislative Summit that RIMs held October 16th–17th, 2019, in Washington, DC.
