We start by recapping the games and highlighting good and bad tendencies that stood out.
Next we jumped into the Leafs Power play. Is it running better than last season? Is Klingberg the better power play QB than Rielly?
We close out the episode by going in depth on Joseph Woll and what are the best aspects to his game.

Welcome back to another episode of the Rink Rat Report podcast. We have another banger of an episode today going through Toronto Maple Leafs news and looking at projections for Leafs players for the upcoming season.
The Leafs made a few small moves this past week in order to fill out the roster and keep it cap compliant. First the Leafs traded Sam Lafferty, who they acquired at the trade deadline last year, to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a 5th round pick in 2024. The move made room for the Leafs to then sign Noah Gregor to a one year $775K deal. Lastly the Leafs put Bobby McMann on waivers and sent Easton Cowan back to London of the OHL.
With the roster set, we took a look at what the Leafs’ top players were projected to produce this season using projections from Dom Luszczyszyn and Shayna Goldman of the Athletic. We discuss if the projection is too high, too low or just right.

Welcome back to another episode of the Rink Rat Report podcast. In this episode we take another deep dive into the Leafs' training camp including: how the lines are looking like they're going to shape up in the regular season, players that have impressed relative to their expectations and what our overall expectations are for the Leafs this season.
Fraser Minten has been staying with the Leafs longer than most people expected. He skated on a line with a couple of Leafs regulars at practice today. In addition to this it seemed that William Nylander has been put back on the wing along side John Tavares. Will we see the two back together for the majority of the season again?
We continue the Leafs chat with how well we expect the team to finish in the regular season. With certain playoff teams from last year losing big pieces, and other teams that missed the playoffs getting better, where should we expect the Leafs to finish?
We close out the episode with an interview with PWHL Montreal and Team Canada forward Laura Stacey. We chat about lessons learned from being a pro athlete, Olympic stories and the hype of the inaugural season of the PWHL.

01:30 Recapping the two games and biggest standouts
07:30 Nylander’s play at center
13:25 Easton Cowan
25:00 John Klingberg on the PP1 and talking D
31:00 Matthew Knies & Nic Robertson
40:46 Calle Jarnkrook situation
Welcome back to another episode of the Rink Rat Report podcast. We finally have some Toronto Maple Leafs games to talk about, even if they are irrelevant in the grand scheme of the season, it still feels great to be watching hockey again.
We take a look at the Leafs first 2 preseason games. A little bit about what went on, who stood out to us, what some of the new guys looked like, and more.
Easton Cowan had himself a GAME in his preseason debut. How did he look in the blue and white, and what are we expecting of him through the rest of camp. We also got another look of William Nylander at centre. Will this be something that Leafs fans can expect to see more regularly?
Lastly we talk about Calle Jarnkrok’s absence from Camp. Although Leafs PR said that Jarnkrok is out with a maintenance day it, we know that the Leafs are in a bit of a cap crunch so it raised the question: could Calle Jarnkrok be a cap casualty?

00:00 Introduction
01:20 The Mike Babcock firing
8:38 Injury news out of camp
13:00 Camp weigh ins
19:38 Leafs Lines - stacked top 6 vs strong top 9
41:29 Preseason “watch” list
The offseason is officially over and the beginning of training camp is finally upon us. Before we got into the Leafs training camp details we briefly discussed Mike Babcock stepping down as head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets. We also get into how his alleged actions are that of a sociopath. Good riddance.
The Leafs had some injury news to announce today. Matt Murray and Jake Muzzin will not play this season due to injuries. While 3 other players will miss the start of camp due to injuries.
Next we get into whether we'd like to see the Leafs stack their talent all together or if we'd like to see them "spread the wealth". The Leafs seem to have more scoring depth this season than they did the beginning of last season, so spreading the scoring talent should be a bit easier to do.
Lastly we get into our preseason watchlist. Which players new and returning are we looking to make a splash this preseason.

Welcome back to another episode of the Rink Rat Report Podcast. In this episode we took a stab at ranking the Top 50 Players in the NHL. We included goalies in our list and left out rookies (so no Bedard).
The Leafs had just 2 players in TSN's Top 50 list last season (Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner). Do we see more sneak into Top 50 lists this season? Listen and find out!

Welcome back to another episode of the Rink Rat Report podcast. The start of the season is slowly creeping up but there’s still not much news to talk about so we went ahead and did another draft. This episode we took a look at the Top Breakout candidates for this upcoming NHL season. Each of us drafted 3 forwards, 2 defenceman and 1 goalie from around the NHL that we thought were due to breakout and have a big season. The one rule to this draft is that each player cannot be a rookie. Some notable breakout players from last season include:
-Miro Heiskanen (73 Points)
-Rasmus Dahlin (73 Points)
-Tim Stutzle (90 Points)
-Nico Hischier (80 Points)
-Martin Necas (71 Points)

Yup it's a goalies episode.
We are happy to have on Ben Csiernik of the Goalie Science Podcast. Ben is a former NCAA and USports goaltender that now coaches Goalies and Graduate student researching hockey selection, development and statistics.
We dive into the Leafs goaltending situation with Ben. What he likes about Ilya Samsonov, Joseph Woll and Martin Jones and where he sees concerns with each of their games. We also get into who will take hold of the Leafs net and be the starter for the playoffs.
Later we get into some bounce back candidates around the league as well as who we like for the Vezina trophy.
Ben also discusses his thoughts on patterns he's seen currently and in the past regarding NHL teams drafting goalies.

Welcome back to another episode of the Rink Rat Report podcast. We start today's show discussing Auston Matthews' 4 year $13.25M AAV extension with the Maple Leafs. Was this the right thing to do? Is the term and money fair?
We also welcome on special guest Corey Sznajder from the All Three Zones Project (www.allthreezones.com).
Corey helps to further explain some of the microstatistics that he tracks and which players excel or struggle in these categories. We also get into how much coaching and team play impacts a players' microstats. To close out the episode Corey gives us some players that are underrated in certain aspects of the game.
