What can a jammed garbage disposal possibly teach us about obeying the authority of the Great I AM???

Today, I share a rather embarrassing story of my antics and inept way around machines, and my gratefulness that someone GREATER THAN ME exists around machines! And with that, I begin a brand new series on the I AM statements of Jesus, given in the Gospel of John.

In John 8:58, "Jesus said to them, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.'”

Beloved, Jesus IS the GREAT I AM. He is God Himself. He was there at Creation, before Abraham was. Jesus is I AM.

On today's program, we learn from the example of three women from Paul's epistles, Phoebe, Eunice, and Lois. Phoebe, the great servant and helper described in Romans 16, meant the world to Paul. Eunice and Lois, Timothy's mother and grandmother, offer models of how to train up a child in the ways of the Lord.

One key verse is critically important for all of us in today's study. It is Paul speaking of Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:5, "when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also." Eunice and Lois modeled a faith that wasn't fake, a faith that was genuine, without hypocrisy, a faith that was willing to admit error, a faith we would do well to model.

On today's lagniappe edition of the program, I share personal stories from 20 years ago and just this past week, as I teach on what Jesus meant when He said, "Judge not, lest you be judged." Today's program will include terms like homosexuality, lesbian, and same-sex attraction (younger and sensitive listeners are cautioned). My greatest prayer is that we will learn what God's Word says about how Christians are to exercise good, godly judgment.

Most importantly, let’s remember that the church is a HOSPITAL where the sick come to meet the Great Physician. So let’s not expect people to look, act, or sound the way we want them to - but rather let’s point people to Jesus, and pray for wisdom and discernment when speaking to others, especially those caught up in sin.
