Ep111: what we owe each other, and the perceived paradox of the wounded healer
This solo episode is a sermon, a love letter, a call to action to resist psychic death for anyone who may be feeling isolated, hopeless, numb or despairing under the heavy weight of our current world. What (or who) determines which of us are worthy of care in this life? How can we move from a framework of toxic guilt, shame and individualism, to one of collective care and reciprocity? As Tavi shares, sometimes our darkest moments can open us up to the divine, universal experience of receiving and giving help.
“The work is plentiful…It is not your duty to finish the work [of healing the world], but neither are you at liberty to neglect it.” (Rabbi Tarfon, "Pirkei Avot" 2:15-16)

What lessons can we learn about Fatphobia from the planet Jupiter while she moves through the sign of Taurus? Delightful Taurus Erica Joy of Cosmic Healing, is here to talk about how rest, community, stability, care, protection and comfort are more than self-care buzzwords, especially when viewed through the lens of Fat Liberation.
With a background in social work, Erica works in collaboration with their sibling kay darling via Cosmic Healing: a community-focused healing justice practice committed to facilitating holistic understanding and liberation through a therapeutic astrological lens. They are leading a 4-session Fat Liberation workshop series starting THIS week–for fat and non-fat folks alike! (non-fat folks, please sign up! You need this in your life :) )This group is not just about de-conditioning internalized fatphobia, ableism or racism, but also about actively building communities of care in intentional ways that nurture embodied connection.
In this episode, we also unpack fatphobia and how it intersects with racism and ableism, as well as how it contributes to medical bias for patients in a world designed for thin bodies.

Cara Kovacs is an empowerment coach creating a culture change within the business realm. With magical witchy foundations, an intersectional feminist approach, and a values-aligned methodology, we talk all about how cara came to find her voice and locate her own ethics and practices in a coaching industry that has a bit of a reputation for being predatory or exploitative towards clients.
We also dig into the distinctions between why someone might want to work with a coach v.s. a therapist, our own experiences with shifting needs in therapy, how embodiment is crucial to any work that seeks to change how we exist in this world (including business, therapy and more), and how Cara’s witchy family roots have helped to shape and inform her spiritual path while infusing her client work with magical undertones.

you're in for a treat! Gata (she/they) is a Queer Afro Caribeña Angry Feminista, and c0vid cautious baddie with a maskie. She created the Bureaucratic baddie series of online workshops: how to file your taxes, how to sue your landlord, and how to sue pretty much any person, government agency, or corporation in the state of CA.
Gata and Tavi talk about the "still-coviding" life, intersections of race, ableism, imperialism and cultural disposability in our current reality, her work on the upcoming virtual Pandemic Solidarity For the Long Future event for BIPOC, and how collective liberation can only be brought about via dedicated community care. Gata also shares about their experience shifting from a merch-based small biz (remember "men are trash" and "femme labor is not free"?) to her current work teaching community education workshops in California and beyond.
In one of the biggest surges ever, 2,000 people are dying from Covid in the US per week right now! Wear a mask, y'all!

The Universe is speaking. Are you listening? Do you know how to?
This first episode of 2024 invites you on an international conversational journey to slow down, tune in and get grounded, with sisters and co-authors, Nyasha Williams and Grace Banda. These creators have blessed us with Elemental Alchemist: a bright, bold, and de-colonial oracle deck and guided journal set that seeks to guide us lovingly along our paths towards connection with the 5 elements (including Spirit), our Earth, each other, our ancestors, and ultimately our own bodies, minds and spirits. We get into:
-exactly how we can use these powerful tools for greater connection
-the often messy journey of reconnecting with our ancestral roots and practices that were stripped, severed and obscured from us in so many ways as colonized and historically oppressed people
-How African Traditional Religious practices have simultaneously been co-opted and exploited by hollywood and appropriation, yet have also morphed, masked, or changed over time by being woven into different Black cultural "quirks" or "superstitions" in the US
-The roles that elders and ancestral veneration can play in our growth and spiritual sense of self
-Some of the work that yt people can do to navigate their own ancestral work around historical legacies of harm/shame/guilt/oppression

Kelli Frances Corrado (She/Her) is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, teaching artist and occasional visual artist, “a quilt of memories and mysticism.” In this special musical episode of ru!gw, we delve into Kelli’s unique approach to music-making and field recording, the relationships between music, creativity and physical and emotional space, how kelli weaves various self-care practices and rituals into her life and artmaking practices, our shared deep musico-aesthetic love of Bjork, and how kelli’s life trajectory was changed forever by a spectral spiritual connection with her late Bohemian Czech grandmother. Listen through to the very end of this episode for a special sonic treat from Kelli’s most recent album ;)🌝

Tavi and our guest--drag artist, actor, and healing witch rexy lafemme--speak about rexy's personal practices, dive deep into the "Upside Down" systemic toxicity of modern Theatre and Film industries, what the SAG and WAG strikes signify astrologically, old and outdated practices of tokenism, transphobia and exceptionalism towards trans and other marginalized people in the entertainment industry, the spiritual experience of acting, and how we will need to collectively work together to break down old oppressive systems and build something new, weaving hope through devastating times.

ep 103 with Chaney Williams
In this episode, we go in-depth about systemic cultural and Medical Industrial Complex biases against midwives, doulas and holistic birthwork in general, health disparities for Black birthing parents, parallels between Western medical perspectives on midwifery and massage therapy fields, and advice for interested families on how to search for and choose a midwife or doula.
We also discuss the core issue of burnout amongst midwives and doulas–before, during and after their training–as well as some insidious systemic barriers to adequate training in this field, medical-cultural transphobia and bias, and specific ways that change can be implemented to create support and care for these important and necessary pillars of our healthcare system.
Bio: Chaney Williams (she/they) is a queer, biracial, intersectional feminist, and full spectrum doula who has an MFA in Creative Writing: Poetry. She lives in Kentucky and has been a southerner since birth. Chaney strongly believes in the power that writing holds in healing processes and that engaging with art of all forms is cathartic. For Chaney, their writing is confessional in nature because she writes what they know and what haunts them because it is the way she makes sense of the world she exists in. It is how she finds belonging in the universe and connects to their ancestors, future descendants, and the collective. They believe that all birthing people deserve autonomy and access to reproductive care/support, that caring for community is an act of liberation, and that it “is our duty to fight for our freedom”-Assata Shakur.
