The futures-chart gap still sits up at $84-85.3K, and the Coinglass liquidation map shows Binance has financial incentive to push BTC up to that range first, then drop it. Will's read: BTC needs to tag $85K before any meaningful correction makes sense — too soon to top out yet.

Oil broke down. WTI lost the 55-day EMA, screams it wants $76 next, with a futures gap as low as $67-68. If oil falls, stocks and crypto get the green light. Combined with the S&P weekly RSI not yet overbought, Will sees real headroom into the weekend.

Circle pre-earnings: Will bought stock yesterday for long-term hold — "trying to be less cute." Textbook setup: line of resistance + higher lows + 200-day EMA support at $114. Gap at $101. Earnings drop Monday May 11 at 8 AM EST. The magic level: $130 reclaimed as support = $212 target on the breakout, a 60% move. (2) Holds $82K as support, runs straight into the next leg. Will's bias: still expects a local top here and a correction. Reaffirmed thesis: bear market officially invalidated on April 15 when BTC broke the long downtrend resistance line.

Coinbase laid off 14% — Brian Armstrong's announcement framed it as AI restructuring. The actual blueprint is interesting: junior engineers managing AI pods that replace mid-level functions, 5-level org chart top-to-bottom. Will's macro/TA block: Bitcoin near the $82K futures gap and the $83.2K secondary gap, with the 21-month EMA between $82.2K–$84K creating intense resistance. Expect a rejection there before consolidation. Pengu has ~6% more in it before $0.012 resistance. Solana demoted to B-tier as a trading vehicle — flat against BTC since March 2024, eaten alive by Hyperliquid on the perp-trading side. Matthew agrees: Hyperliquid flipping Solana is when, not if. Pump.fun is dragging Solana down — even The White Whale couldn't make a token stick in that environment.

Bootstrapped, traveling, half-hour-late Market Watch — Will solo from Maine. No Doug, no jingle, no soundboard, no Evan/Alex (still at Consensus Miami). Started with 30 minutes of TikTok-only content with Erica / Perk Insights doing a Bitcoin Vegas recap, then jumped to the big screen for charts.

Erica's Bitcoin Vegas read: attendance fine but the crowd was very different — far less grassroots Bitcoin-DGen, far more institutional. The politicians on stage (Paul Atkins at SEC, Cash Patel) pitched the same message: build crypto, don't fear arrest, work with us. Tether announced the Resilience Stack — open-source decentralized infrastructure aimed at banking the unbanked.

Bitcoin TA: 2.6% from the $82K futures gap, which lines up perfectly with the 200-day EMA. Will's expectation: tag the gap, get rejected, fill the $69K bearish gap below — but the $59-60K range was the bear-market bottom and the bear market is over. A viewer flagged a one-hour futures gap at $84K, which Will added to his chart. Brent crude oil at $111/barrel turning resistance into support — if oil rips, crypto and stocks both take a hit.

Live trade book: Will's Pengu trade is open, looking for a 10-19% move (clean exit, then back to stablecoins). Circle TA is the highlight — wedge breakout setup ahead of the May 11 earnings call, $130-125 the range that turns into a 60% trade if reclaimed as support, $200+ above that. Will: "Any Circle below $100 is a gift" — switching from waiting-for-deeper-discount to active DCA.

S&P 500 check: 4-hour shows MOXIE close to a short signal + bearish RSI divergence, daily/weekly still fine. To actually roll over the stock market needs oil at $150. Best case S&P holds the all-time-high at $7,000 as support; worst case 5-7.5% correction. Plus a Coinglass liquidation heat map walkthrough showing Binance's financial incentive structure on BTC, gold's bear trend update, and a cameo from Maverick the 115-pound German Shepherd needing to go out.

May the 4th be with you. Short solo show — 38 minutes — with Will from Maine while Evan and Alex are down at Consensus Miami. Heavy on technical analysis, light on news, with one big macro-thread on the Japanese carry trade.

The morning's market mover: Iran claimed a missile strike on US naval ships, US Navy denied, oil spiked ~5%, Bitcoin dipped on the news then rebounded. The US is now escorting commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz, a third carrier group is in the area — Will's read: it kind of looks like we're trying to antagonize Iran into a strike. Crude oil charts are gearing up for a bullish breakout that would be very, very bad for stocks and crypto.

The bigger structural story: the Japanese carry trade. Bank of Japan rate hikes are pushing Japanese investors back into JGBs and out of US bonds — Japan is historically the largest buyer of US debt. As they sell, US bond rates rise, mortgages and loans get more expensive, inflation ticks higher. The bridge to the crypto world: stablecoin issuers (Tether, Circle, Paxos) are now meaningful US bond buyers and are increasingly the American empire's best friend on the rates side. "Buy more bonds, please."

GameStop news: Cohen put in an offer to buy eBay at $125/share (~45–50% premium) to combine GameStop's 1,600 retail stores with eBay's online marketplace and compete with Amazon — using GameStop locations as authentication hubs for Pokemon cards, retro gaming, and sports memorabilia. Will is rooting for the underdog play.

TA block: Bitcoin near the $82K futures gap and 21-month EMA resistance — Will's hypothesis says hit it, then $69K. Circle stock breaking out ahead of May 11 earnings. Pengu in a bull-flag breakout but double-topping with weakening RSI. DXY still in problem territory. Solana "boring" with no momentum — gets demoted from the A-tier list. Pendle up 80% in 35 days but overbought (sell, don't buy).

Will's coin tier list: Hyperliquid is AAA (revenue buyback + dominates socials). Sky Protocol AA (revenue buyback). Pengu AA (dominates socials). Bitcoin A-tier for trading. Solana removed from A-tier for lack of momentum. Bear market officially ended a few weeks ago — now in consolidation phase for the next ~9 months.

Episode 19 of Trust Issues — Alex and Emily on the Tuesday before Consensus Miami. The Bitcoin Vegas conference is happening in parallel, Forbes just dropped a hit piece on Eric Trump's American Bitcoin venture, and the conversation rolls straight into the Ben McKenzie tour, the politics of DeFi United, and what an individual is actually supposed to do about any of it.

Alex walks through American Bitcoin via mempool.space — Eric Trump's mining company hasn't won a meaningful block in months, American energy is too expensive, and aluminum smelters keep getting bought up by chip manufacturers for AI. Emily traces the actual money: where Silicon Valley LP capital ended up, how it dumped into the pockets of "too stupid" founders, and how that cycle just amplified.

DeFi United update: 137,600+ ETH and ~$315M pledged. KelpDAO is fully covered assuming the pending Arbitrum DAO vote on 30,765 frozen ETH passes — and Emily flags that the people loudest about "no handouts" are the same people quietly pooling to bail out their friends. The whole thing is a real-time argument for why DeFi protocol design needs better safety mechanisms baked in.

Then the Ben McKenzie deep dive — "Everyone Is Lying to You for Money," the OC actor with the economics degree on a national talk-show tour. Verdict: the mission deserves to be waged, but he's not the dog to bark up that tree. The fight is worth fighting; the messenger is wrong. Emily's pivot: the only individual-level answer is making yourself harder to lie to. Define your terms (what is a Ponzi scheme, actually?). Hunt down primary sources. Be honest about what you don't know — that's the most disarming thing in any conversation.
